I just dropped off my second SS to be drilled yesterday, my original got a nice chunk taken out of it in my track area. The SS is one of my all time favorites. My release tends to even out a lot of snappier balls but the SS never had a problem turning the corner for me. And I always loved the way the SS moved pins around, great carry with it.

I know that VBP was never big on particle pearls, but I would love to see if they could fill the void between the Blurple and the SS. I had an Ogre Pearl and it just read the midlane a bit too strong for me. Had some nice scores with it when the conditions were right, but never was confident enough to keep it in the bag for tourneys. Would love to see the Destroyer coverstock tweaked in a way to have it handle a heavier condition.

Makes me wonder if VBP could take some of the particle from the Purple Ice Ex. and do as you say Krumpy300?

BTW....I love my SS Ogre also (pin over bridge CG stacked below in mid grip OOB surface).....used it at WI Raisin State Tourney in dbles and singles last weekend.  In singles went 256-275-177 ugh....ran out of room as we were on 1 & 2 in an old worn wood Bruns. house with board 40 against the wall on 1....I didn't have my Amulet Glow for last game big mistake

Very nice bowling Scott!!  The SS is awesome when it matches up, but as we have talked about before, you have to know when to say when and put it away.

That is why I wish there was a little more traction in that cover, you could almost move right and with an open hand when they would start to break down a bit and even out the over under.

I talked to Jason a couple weeks ago about this and he said there are no plans for a particle pearl type coverstock. The ogre pearl is suppose to mimic a particle pearl. He said with coverstock tweeks on solids he can mimic a particle peal also. For example using a ogre solid at 600 grit and add light polish to it...

Then maybe they need to come out with the Destroyer coverstock in a solid version then.

My SS and Blurple drilled identically were NOTHING alike.

Watching my buddy use his OP I'd like to know how the surface could be adjusted to react similar to a pearl particle?

I also find, from watching him, Destroyer to be more versatile.  The OP reads the mids too much and barfs in the back as opposed to his SS picking up only a few feet later and finishing with more pop.

I don't think I could pass up a pearl particle Destroyer if the heavens ever allowed one to be made.

FYI:
Jason has said more than once here on ballreviews that he sees no difference in overall ball reaction (my paraphrase) between a particle pearl and polished solid resin.

(Ogre Pearl comments removed, because this is an Ogre SS thread).

Sidebar. Hmmmmmmm.....I think maybe some think that the OP with it's arcing reaction and it's slight ability to handle small amounts of carry down is particle pearl like.  

Comparison.  I bowled in a tourney in match play on older Bruns. Anvilane with some carry down and blown up heads.  The guy, I bowled against used a RG Mystic....our balls have similar layouts his rev rate slightly above mine from guessing....playing a similar line.  His carry was a lil better than mine but ball reasctions also were very similar.  

I've used my OP OOB, 4000ab and Storm Step #2 (which I feel is close to OOB 1500 polished.)  Pin above ring and CG 1/2" right of mid grip.....never have seen my OP puke on the backend unless thrown poorly......even at 4000ab.

When, I normally use my SS I can move back out in the dirt normally 2 boards with my feet 2 on the lane (this would be say using a OP to compare) and as long as I stay firm and don't get it out to the friction area to soon it's gang busters.
