Stats: Lefty, seeing how I am a new lefty due to injury, I don't know my exact PAP, etc, BUT, I track just as high as I did right handed, BUT, I think my tilt has increased.
Balls:
1. Original Ogre, surface at 4000 abralon, no polish, pin just above fingers on midline, cg in the palm. Probably equates to about a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 drill, obviously no extra hole needed.
2. Blurple Ogre, surface at factory 1500 with polish, ball drilled identical to the original Ogre above
I went bowling today, using mainly the Granite, but at the end, switched over to my Ogres to see if I could get a read on how the Blurple matches with the original on a fresher shot (my first 3 games with the granite were the ONLY games bowled on the pair, it was a normal THS.
The original Ogre, as always, was about 2-3 boards weaker overall than the granite, BUT, had just as much punch at the pins as the Granite. I moved a few right as everything I have seen so far with the Blurple by me and on vid said it was cleaner without the huge jump on the back, and its RIGHT ON! Even on the fresh, the Blurple did not jump off the end of the pattern and had a smooth, but powerful arc to the pocket.
One thing about the Ogres is this, I just CAN NOT get over how hard these puppies hit. They just whack the pins, flat out.
I could see the typical house bowler purchase the Blurple and original ogre and have about 90% of what they will ever encounter covered. These balls are just that darn good!
When the Blurple is just not early enough, the solid Ogre will do the job, and vice versa, when the original Ogre is just too early, the Blurple is smoother through the heads and will get the job done!
For the price, how could you go wrong???
I will say this. I am a BIG proponent of no fillers around the core. These balls have a thick cover that goes down to the core. Bottom line is this. I have said before and will say this again, the balls with no filler and more coverstock to me can absorb more oil before becoming soaked, and seem to crack less as the thinner shells are weaker, crack easier, and when the oil goes into the pores of the cover, the filler stops that oil and holds it there....thus why I feel those balls die quicker...but that is an opinion.
If you have not done so already, pick one or both of these up. You will not regret it!
