Ok, finally got some good testing in.

Ok, finally had time to drill a G-3.

And i remember hamster comparing it to an xfactor, and he is exactly right.
Ball is golden! Absolutely golden. I had the First Gyphon and no longer have it but it was layed out stronger than this one was and they get the same amount of length. They have about the same about of midlane roll as well, but the pearl cover gives it a very nice finish on the backends. Ball carries wonders. The First Gryphon i had was drilled 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 and was nice through the heads and finished well, but sometimes was a little flat compared to this ball.

I layed this one out 5 x2 and the ball starts to really pick up ball motion around 35 feet getting past the oil at 40 and then starts to flip just continuously. it's really like the xfactor because the original XF was not a skid flip/snap ball it was a hard arc. this is what the new G-3 is. I would predict this ball to be an improvement on the X factor, because it's even smoother through the heads.

By the way, i did alter the surface on the ball. I took a green scrub pad to it and then took 600 polish to it. the box finish was very skiddy.

I would compare length between this ball and the original Blue spakle that this is going a couple feet more but finishes later and harder. The Blue sparkle had the pin above my ring finger, and the G-3 has the pin below the bridge. The seem to have the same amount of length from these two drillings.

So far very nice Medium ball, and no problems with the avearage amounts of carrydown.

How does this ball fit in the "Crimson Executioner, Green Gargoyle, Blue Gryphon" house type of arsenal?

I am quite interested in the G-3 but feel it may overlap the Crimson to an extent, unless there is a possibility if drilled stronger it will fit nicely between the Blue Sparkle and Crimson Ex.

I guess I'd like to start off with the Blue Sparkle and step down to the G-3 and then the Crimson as the night wore on.

Your opinions please...

Go blue Gryphon, G-3 then crimson.

I find the crimson skids alot in oil for me. that's one of the reasons i changed the surface of the g-3. The blue gryphon sometimes not the best for carrydown, so you can go to the g-3 when the head start to dry up a little bit, and the gryphon is moving too early.

Hey, just wanted to chime in.  I very close to getting the Platinum membership ---thus 4 balls.  I talked with Mr. Wonders at Visionary re: Burgandy, Blue Sparkle, G-3 then Slate Gargoyle as a lineup.  He suggested that this would be a great lineup (obviously).  My concern was the overlap between the G-3 and the Sparkle.  He had suggested going with the same layout on the Burgandy and Sparkle (using oil/reaction to change which ball to use) and then to layout the G-3 with more of a length drilling.  He said that this would help create a little more of a gap if you will between the G-3 and Sparkle.  What do you all think?  I can't think of a better way to start over with a arsenal/lineup for $500 (including a bag/shirts/towel etc)

Well, in my opinion (based solely) if the G-3 can handle some carrydown then you definitely won't have much of a problem fitting it in when the Sparkle checks up too soon.

Even with a basic 1:30 label drill my Sparkle is pretty strong on medium conditions, doing exactly the same thing Tim said his does.  For my G-3 I'd probably go with something like a pin up and over the ring with the CG slightly kicked or close to...(4.5"x3.5").  I will also scuff it down slightly like Tim did as well.

If you follow his patterns some what or take Mr. Wonders advice you will be able to switch between those three balls as the night goes on.
