Post by: Shizz on May 07, 2008, 10:40:47 AM
I was thinking about getting an Centaur-AMB Particle for the nationals and to bowl in y sport league.  How do you guys think it will do?

Unless you have a high ball speed or a low rev rate, you'll need to take it to 1500 or 2000 grit to use it on the fresh team shot.

Do you think box will be too much for the TOC, Masters, or US open? I start the Masters tomorrow night, Im excited to try something differant. The Open looks hard.

It's for heavy oil... heavy oil and long oil aren't always one in the same, so for the TOC pattern, if it's the 50' pattern, it would be too much ball OOB for the majority of bowlers.

not sure how much oil is on the Masters or the TOC. I know for sure the ball, with the stock surface, is too much for the US Open pattern, AGAIN, unless you have very high ball speed or very low revs. The Open is long and flat, not heavy.

In recent times, the 50' TOC pattern has been pretty light.  I agree that it's probably too much ball for that pattern.

For smoothing out the backends on the Cheetah pattern, though, it might be pretty nice.  I heard that Sean Rash was using a polished Mammoth (or Goliath) at one of the tour stops last year or the year before on the Cheetah pattern.

This ball is way too early and strong for use at National.  I tried it yesterday for one shot just to see how it would do playing outside of 5 in the out of bounds.  It still hooked at the arrows.

The Gladiator Solid on the other hand is money on the Roto Challenge and first 2 games of team.  I shot 512 for 2 during the Roto challenge.  That was only good for second at the end of the day.  Someone shot 515 later that night.  Monday's winner only shot 399 to collect $420 for first.  My doubles partner shot 401 so we are sitting pretty good for that as well.  I was told I'm sitting 6th for the year long payout.  That ball just paid for itself for the 4th time in a month.

Make sure you bring some equipment with some surface on it.  1000 and 2000 Abralon seem to give the best look right now.  I did end up using a Horizon Pearl for the last couple games in singles.

Good Luck and give the Gladiator a try, you won't be disappointed.
