Charcoal Executioner drilling
« on: January 08, 2004, 11:29:29 PM »
I just got a used Charcoal Executioner from A_P_K.  I read about how his drilling did not work for him.  I want to get some suggestions on how I should have this baby laid out.  Right now it looks like this:

--------P
----0-0

-------CG

-----0

This is mainly how most of my stuff is drilled.  I have a WOW and Menace Pearl with basically the same drilling; everything stacked to the right of grip.

I would like to have the Char Ex get down the lane and have a nice even back end move to the pocket.  My WOW gets a really nice move with this drilling, but I am open to all suggestions.  Thanks in advance guys.

Corey, it all depends on how strong you want it to be, with that layout it will be good for medium conditions.

It arcs gently starting in the midlane, and is very controllable through the whole length of the lane.  It can cover it's fair share of boards once the oil dries out a little.

If you want it more aggressive than that go with a pure label drilling as told to me by LiveSpive.

Currently the MB neck is about here...

My Charcoal is drilled pretty much exactly the same.
I have good luck with the Charcoal on synthetics, but when I get
on wook lanes is when the Charcoal turns into a monster for me.
When I'm on synthetics I use either my Crimson or Blue sparkle
gryphon, but when I'm going to a wood house always have the Charcoal
with me.

My Charcoal was drilled similar, but the pin was above the bridge and the CG kicked out to the right a little farther, with a hole on my PAP.  I wanted the ball to get good length, but still turn the corner thru some carrydown.  The move on the backend was a hard arc that was very readable.  I am in agreement with the other posters.  The ball is wonderful for mediums with some carrydown.  If the lanes start to dry up though, it will take off early.  Also, with a length drilling, it can't really handle more than a heavier medium with dryer backends, as it will skid thru the breakpoint.  I was very happy with mine.

Basically label leverage.  From all of the research that I did before I had mine drilled they said that if you are playing on mediums keep the drillings simple (label drillings)

even like this it was still to strong out of the box and  I had to polish it.
it works great now.
