Drilled up the G-3 last night...
« on: March 13, 2009, 12:54:24 AM »
I was able to only throw it one game so far. I got it used off of eBay a little while back and finally punched it. I place pin in the ring. This really smoothed the ball out but it got kinda jumpy towards the end of the first game. I have it finished with Storm Step 2, with no polish over it. I used it during the start of the second shift. When I got home I added a coat of snake oil over it and we'll see how it reacts tonight...

You did remember to put some soothing bubble bath in before soaking the ball, right?  If not, there''s your problem.  Lane 1 balls are obviously female (diamond core, cost more, high maintenance, etc.)  therefore, if the bath was not to her liking, she probably got so mad at you she cracked her shell.  It''s the bowling ball way of busting that throbbing vessel in her forehead...

JMO but I think from my experience Storm Step #2 is about as close asd I can get to OOB 1500 polished.  Maybe charlest could add here.  BTW....also depends on pressure applied, etc.

G-3 is great ball.....I have one pin over ring CG 1/2" right of mid grip.  If I want to smooth it out I take it to 4000 ab.

I love the G-3 on a slighlty carried down shot....scoots thru heads reads mids well without over reaction and flips into 1-3.

Scott,

Yes I found the same thing too with the step 2. I like to try the step 2 first on all my pearls first and depending on reaction, I'll keep it at that or I add snake oil over the top if I want some length.

Nor Cal,

I also just punched up a G-3 I got off of Mvpbowler. I drilled it up with the pin in ring finger also, cg kicked rt. with a wt. hole. I only got to throw one game with it as well, but the ball was very impressive as far as backend snap goes! Mine arrived highly polished, but I took it down to around 1500 abralon. We have one house in town and they put out alot of oil. Right now it's definitely the strongest pearl in my arsenal, just above the Mean Greenie. Only bowled a 185 with it, but I'm sure after I learn how to control this beast, it will be a regular on league night. Another great ball from Jason and co.

I am considering punching one of these up 5 x 3 with pin centered over fingers to get farther and flip harder than my Paradiegm drilled pin over ring CG/MB kicked right 45 degrees and polished to 2000 abralon. Any thoughts?

I got 2 games in with the ball last night in league.  Ball is strong, though exactly how strong I don't know.  I'll have to throw a couple different ones to compare.

Ball has pin slightly to the right of the pin with CG kicked out to the right.  Not stacked, but close.

Strong mid and good solid backend.....not a big snap.....just a strong roll.  Allows me to play a 15 to 7 with a little hand or down and in with little hand.

They oiled lanes after PBA experience Jr league before us, and ball did well still.  Let's just say it's earned a spot!!

Could I throw it more??  Yes.....I could easily see this being a very usable ball.  Only problem I had with it was playing a tighter swing to a 15-7 shot....ball lost energy too soon and moved right to play it down and in.  Tough decisions!!  LOL!!

Very likable ball though!!

I will be punching mine up this weekend....going with Pin 5" from pap which will be center grip for me and then going 75 degree kick out with CG. Hoping for a alot of length and energy retention and a big backend to move in under my pin over ring Paradiegm.
