Cover stock ?
« on: February 21, 2008, 01:21:54 AM »
Hi guys, I was wondering about the covers on the G3 and the AMB centaur pearl. I just grabbed the G3 on ebay for a steal, it seems pretty close in reaction to the centaur. G3 is pin over bridge, Cg is moved closer to the PAP, probably about a 5x3. Centuar is pin next to ring, amb to the right of the thumb, 3-3/4x6. The G3 is 500 abr polished to a real shine with powerhouse factory finish, cenatur at 1000 abr. with the same polish. Both are very snappy, G3 moves left when it hits the dry, the centaur sort of rolls for a split second then snaps. I guess my long winded ? is are they the same cover. Also on a side note pictures dont do the G3 justice, great looking ball, pretty similar to a BWP(its kind of hard to see it read though).

Hi rustylegacy,

These two coverstocks are not the same.  Actually, you should notice a pretty fair difference in oil and/or carrydown.  The G-3 is a very strong skid/flip ball that doesn't really care for oil or carrydown much.  The cover on the Bronze AMB is not quite as skiddish, and handles carrydown a little better.  Both are strong reactive pearls, and will flip pretty hard when they hit the dry, but they are definitely different.
