Got this ball used, from doug sterner. The pin is just shy of 2 inches. Its drilled pin over ring, about 3/4 of an inch above it, slightly right. CG is about 1/4 of an inch right of the pin. Ball is polished, but not "mirror finish".

Me: Medium speed, around 15 MPH
Medium revs
Tweener

I got this ball, and planned for it to be my dry lane ball, but truthfully the only way that will happen is if I bring it up to at least 2000 grit polished. Pattern was nothing special, flat oil 7-7 (or around there) and medium/medium heavy outside that. Ball got through the heads, like nothing I've seen. Its not much for midlane roll, skids through the mids nicely, even after they start to dry up. I wanted the ball to be skid/snap, and I got what I wanted. This ball, for me, is all backend. I was standing on 45, swinging to around 8-10. Outside that it just skid, but keep it in the dry and it skids through the mid lane and snaps hard. This would be a fantastic medium oil ball, and I guess I'll see how it does for light oil to. Hope this wasnt too long, for a mini review!!!

On the same pattern, how did this ball react compared to your triple x? I think that if you run accross a pattern with a little more oil, you will see that the ball will definately need some dry to work with. This ball is probably best suited as a ball for lighter patterns with good backends, as it needs some dry to work with, but does get through the heads and midlane very well. I would bet that this ball would be 5 boards less in overall hook on the same pattern as the triple x, tell me how close i am.

well, there drilled way differently. The triple x has the pin under the ring, with the cg swung out. On the same pattern, the gargoyle is longer and a lot snappier. Overall hook, there real close, but totally different reactions.

wow that surprises me, maybe you should scuff the xxx a little bit and polish the greenie if that is the reaction your getting. This will probably differentiate the balls from eachother, and make the gap a little larger, although it surprises me that the gargoyle is almost as strong, with the weaker cover and a lot weaker core.

truthfully I dont understand it, especially being the fact that my gargoyle is polished. I think it may be due to the fact that the triple x is burning up a little bit. Not sure but a possibility.

Maybe it is....next time you bowl, check the carry of the XXX compared to the GG....

Even with a pin under- drilling, the XXX should be pretty snappy at least....

No snap, hard arc at best.

No, bob, from what I've seen him throw, it's not even a hard arc, no real defined motion....Just seems "weaker" than the Gargoyle.

THe backends aren't really that jumpy, so I don't get it...

100% sure its not dying out, it only had like 20 games on it when I got it. Im pretty sure its rolling out some. It still has hit and carry, just not great hit or carry. I think the gargoyle will be first out of the bag from now on.
