FIGJAM with the Blurple
« on: February 13, 2013, 10:55:07 PM »
I really didn't want to start a new topic, but I did :D. Anyway, I have been using VBP off and on for 8 years, and I just shot my 7th Honor score with VBP balls. Last game went to the Blurple and shot 2nd 300 in 4 weeks. Figjam off 8)

Totally agree with that statement!!  And sadly, as I look to my honor scores, the only ball I still have left is the Gladiator Pearl, which is by far the best ball I've thrown over the many years of throwing Visionary equipment.  I would dare say that I have bowl best with it over the 13-14 I've been bowling.  Testament to how good their stuff is!!

You know that Glad Pearl is one of the balls I regret not getting, Gary what are you using now that is VBP?

Only throwing in one league and interesting thing is, it's not the same house I've been at.  So wasn't sure what to keep going into this year.

I take Spartan, Bronze Centaur, Gladiator Pearl and Blue/Green Centaur with me.  I have thrown almost exclusively with the Glad Pearl, though one week I did play all 3 games with the Spartan, and every so often I bring out the Blue/Green when it's really dry.

At home I still have an Ogre Particle and New Breed Particle Pearl.  And Spike (aka Spike2112) sent me a Blue Sparkle Gryphon that I will look to drill up....and got a used Purple Ice and a used Slate Blue Gargoyle.  SBG will be going in for plug and redrill hopefully tomorrow.  Same for Purple Ice.

Have debated on getting something newer.....but problem is the house borders on even lanes that break down.....but it really depends on how they start.  I just can't see getting something monster hook when I'll never use it.

Gladiator LE is one that I really thought very heavily about though.

Congratulations on the great bowling.  I've always thought that if you could only choose one VBP ball, the blurple would be a leading contender.  These days, it might be a toss up between the blurple and the Classic.

Thanks, been a couple of years with multiple honors. The house I bowl at changes the shot every month, this month is 42 ft with most people playing the 10 to 6 board range, the volume is lighter so lanes transition quickly, I play 18 to 7 to start then move further left from there, its still a THS but the cool thing is he changes the volume and length to make it were its not total China.

Thanks and Yes the Blurple is a great ball, but IMO the whole Ogre line is. How do you like your Classic and how is it drilled? I have one ordered as well as a Warlock.

I'm still waiting on my Classic.  The comment was based on everything I've heard, seen and read from people who already have theirs.  I'm planning on going with a 60 x 4 x 30 drill with no (or an insignificantly small) weight hole.

Sadly I haven't seen many guys throwing the Classic around this area.  For the number of years I've been throwing Visionary, Dallas has always seemed to be behind the bigger brands where guys are concerned.  It's the women who have seemed to be more open minded about trying the brand.

And even worse, when I did bowl TCBS here in Dallas and Fort Worth, I always had Visionary stuff with me to pass out before matches week after week....but when it came time for Jason and Willie to be here, the women seem to buy more than the men once again.

Couple women in my league throw the Classic.  While they don't turn the ball much, ball has a good roll on it and it doesn't seem to overreact.  Like the hit and carry and can imagine that ball with a little polish on the lanes.
