Finishes on covers...

What are all of you using to finish your covers as far as polish and grit under the polish? (Please include name of polish and how much).

Edit*- I've been using Valentino Snake Oil with Resurrection underneath. I'm getting too much skid. Maybe I don't have enough revs?

I think everyone knows what I like... (stated it several times )

2000 grit ABRALON... then a good amount of valentinos snake oil. for me its perfect.

Pearl balls- Usually 1000 abralon with a medium amount of finesse it polish, if I change it from the factory finish.

 Solid balls- Either stock OOB surface or light finesse it over factory finish

For solids I use OOB, pearls I was using 320 or 600 then Ebo FF, switched it to Storm #2, seems to end up the same. Plus the Storm comes in a much bigger bottle.

Really depends on what I want to achieve...

On polished balls, I settled on 2.000 Abralon (4-sided) plus Brunswick's High Gloss Polish (4-sided), but I recently got hold of a bottle of Lanemasters polish which I want to try next.

For Rough Buff, I use either a maroon (320 grit) or green (600 grit) 3M pad as a base, again sanding and compound 4-sided.

I have also experimented with 3M's Finesse-It II Trizact compound, and this on a 4.000 Abralon base creates the shiniest and tackiest ball surface I have encountered so far. Result is a high gloss finish with very good traction at the breakpoint, and unholy pin carry due to the tacky ball surface.

I use Valentino's Resurrection first which puts a 800 grit Matte finish on the cover and then apply Valentino's Snake Oil. Let me mention here that Valentino's Remedy RX is becoming one of the most popular ball cleaners available. Not only does it do a great job of cleaning your ball with ease, but it also leaves your ball tacky. Here is the link.

Remember Resurrection puts a slight shine on the ball when used on a spinner or when applied with a damp sponge/towel. You might want to try either a dry towel or use a 600 or 800 grit abrasive like a Scotch Brite nylon pad and then apply the Snake Oil.

Also you might want to try a LIGHT application of Snake Oil over the Resurrection. Heck, you might want to try the shine provided by the Resurrection by itself first. Then if you don't get enough skid, apply the Snake Oil by hand lightly.

Everything is truly relative in this area of polish and release and oil amount.

I did that today. I used Snake oil over gray pad today to give that a try. I may throw it tomorrow and see how it works....
