Title: G-3 drilling help
Post by: captainhook on April 09, 2005, 03:39:39 PM
needing some suggestions

looking for a drilling to get the ball down the lane with a booming backend with out having to twist the heck out of it

I have a high rev rate , speed around 15 - 17 mph

I'm tired of watching bowlers with less hand hooking the ball the same if not more than me.

any suggestions

the ball I'm getting has a 3 - 4 " pin and around 3 oz of top weight??

I'd probably just stick the pin above fingers, CG basically straight down, wouldn't kick it out much if at all.  and then put the MB down by the thumb like Newsted was thinking.  Should give you length and a really strong backend.

Me: What did you say about bowling?
Her: I didn't say bowling I said, DRIVING, I'm tired of driving.
Me: Ohhh. Nevermind.

I'd put the pin about 4" from your axis (if you really want a big backend), but since your ball speed is not quite in the cranker range (usually around 18-19 mph), I'd place the pin at least 2 1/2" above your midline, in order to insure some length. Depending on how much actual oil there is, AND what your tilt and rotation are, I'd place the CG no further than 4" from your axis, maybe closer, like 2.5-3".

My suggestion would be to go with a 3+ pin out.  The reason being is that the higher the pin, the harder the ball is going to want to react to friction down the lane.

I would go with a 4 inch Stack Drill from your PAP and keep the CG directly under the Pin.  You'll most likely end up with a pin above your Ring Finger(if you're a righty).

You should also hit the ball with some Reactive Cleaner out of the box.  This will ensure that the ball will have a nice tacky cover, suitable for making a booming move on the backend.
