Gladiator which one?
« on: June 12, 2008, 02:57:46 AM »
I am getting ready to revamp my arsenal

I know a few people that have the solid gladiator.  They seen to get a better reaction when polished.

which leads me to think. Of all the polished equipment that i have had, the ones i liked the best were the solids (RS-X, Pulse, Cudu 2000) not the pearls.  Anybody have similar experiences?

Here is what i am looking at.  I already own the amb, widow, amulet.

AMB particle
Dimension 2000 abralon  (may go with cell or frankie may in this spot)
ogre pearl 2000 or 4000 abralon Drilled Rico
gladiator - polished
Black widow pearl - 4000 abralon
Glowing Amulet.

any thoughts?

I've got the Gladiator in OOB finish and love the way the ball rolls and reads the lanes.  I find an extremely strong midlane read with a nice backend finish....not flippy though.

You've got the AMB Particle, so you are really set for heavy oil.  I know nothing about Storm so can't comment on the Dimension, but the Gladiator solid in OOB finish isn't that far from the Cell in terms of strength if given same covers....at least for me.

I throw both solids and pearls well and really don't favor one over the other.  The Ogre Pearl comes out when I think it's time for a different look and I love the read that gives me too.  Excellent ball!!

For me with a slightly stronger drilling and with the Cell and Solid Glad at 2000 ab....the Cell is a bit stronger in that it flares more than the Glad.

Totally agree!!!

If it was me I'd leave the Solid Ogre alone and go with the Solid Glad and the Ogre Pearl a step down from the Solid Glad.  For those more speed dominant and rev challenged I would imagine the Pearl Glad would be better for a more angular but not sharp angle than the Pearl Ogre.

I don't think of 2000 abralon as a dull finish....more a semi-polished state.

Yes/no?

Agreed.  I find the ball actually is strong in the mid and back.....not huge up front.  I think if I wanted more reaction in the front of the lane, I would have to dull it up to less than the OOB finish.  I also think Jason confirmed that thought one time we talked about it.

Scott....is this the same drill for both balls then?? Sounds like you've got a stronger drill on one.

Honestly, I'll have to look at 'em when I get home since I have not bowled since early May.  This one does not bowl in the summer....only golf til late August.

I'll report back.
