Gladiators
« on: June 25, 2011, 12:58:15 PM »
For those that are not aware, as of July 15, the entire Gladiator line will be discontinued.  I got in touch with Jason to find out if this was a decision based on sales or if there was another line coming out to take its place and he stated that the Glads have been out since Feb 2008, so they did their jobs and it was time to move on to something new.  He did not specify what was coming out or when.  So, for those that loved the Glads, if you want another one, may want to jump on it before they are all gone.

I have the Solid, Pearl and Spartan. I do like the carry with these balls. We didn't drill the solid correctly for my style. Plugged it, was 45*x 5"x 62* p-2 at first (then tried p-3), now its 95* x 3.25" x 55* no hole and I like the reaction now. The pearl is at 50*x 5.75"x 35* no hole. The Spartan is at 45*x 3.375"x 30*. Added some polish and my Spartan is a monster. I may get a second one.

They are really good balls if you hit the setup correctly.

I'm thinking that the new Mixed Breed will take over for the Gladiator line. I'm waiting for this release.

The Spartans are not included in the discontinued list, just the balls with the word 'Gladiator' in it.

I liked this Gladiator and I found the reason I probably liked it was that the CG was shifted over far enough to put the PSA in the thumb rather than left of it like the other Mohawk cored balls that failed for me.  This was before I spun everything and just lucked out by hitting a layout that worked.

I'll be interested to see what VBP comes up with their mid-line to replace the Glads.
