Finally got a chance to drill up the two Gladiators (Solid and Pearl)
Both were drilled With the dual angle layout... 5" to PAP, 60* MB angle, at 45* which puts the pin above and just left of my middle finger, with CG just below or in the ring (Sarge Easter grip). No weightholes were needed. Surfaces were adjusted from out of box, so I know I can duplicate them. Solid was hit with 2000 Abralon, while the pearl was hit with a 1000 Abralon and polished with Ultimate Quick Cut.
On a THS, the solid is probably too much ball for me, but is fun to throw. Most continuous ball I have thrown. It just won't quit. As much as I loved the Executioners, I think this may replace it. Don't want to take the surface up anymore, just in case I find some oil.
The pearl on the other hand, IS MONEY!!! Smooth, controllable, and hits like a machine. Most controllable pearl I have thrown. With the surfaces, the Pearl is about 3-4' longer, and about 4-5 boards straighter than the Solid. It's about the 3-4 boards weaker than the G3 which is drilled the same with the same surface.
I will be making a video soon. Just waiting till I play a golf tournament at the weekend

Good report Andrew. What is your PAP, ball speed, tilt, rev rate?
Thanks!

Pap is 4 3/4 over 1 3/4 up. Speed around 20mph, tilt about 30* and around the 480-500 rpm.

I'd like to see Andrew and Steve aka TwoHands bowl together on a team. High rev rate inside players....now that would be interesting.

Yep that is him alright

I have watched that video many times. Its an impressive release.
I wondered why he mentioned a 5" pin to pap since the gladiators dont flair a ton to begin with... but with those revs it no wonder you had them drilled 5".
looking forward to see a video. I love my gladiator, it replaced my no mercy. but i might still keep it for heavier oil.

love my gladiators... will be rolling my solid tonight.

nice shootin Androooo!
i enjoy throwing the gladiators, but have noticed that my track has moved to over the fingers. is this ball that strong? has anyone elses track moved? any other equipment i throw my track is just left of middle finger and thumb(high tracker). the gladiators i have, have a strong drilling on them. the solid needs oil for me, but the pearl, for me is a beast. i could wheel it all day! i dont want to plug the balls, but curious as to why im tracking over fingers with them. none of them have a pin down drilling, so its not that. just curious. i still throw them and they are simply great!

That's a tough one...
Can I say... I like them both? Orge Pearl is stronger for me in the midlane, but then again, I have it drilled stronger. Haven't thrown that ball for a long time.

Andrew,
How much difference in the backend on close to same ball surface and layout if you can compare?
BTW.....I don't think you can get a much better benchmark ball than the OP even if it is a pearl.
Way to go on that 300!

Andrew,
Congrats on the 300!!! I also liked the reviews on the Gladiators. Would you say that the difference between the Glad Pearl and the Crimson Executioner is about the same as the difference between the SS Ogre and the Green Gargoyle? I am curious as the GG and Crimson were probably my two favorite balls by VBP.

i agree my glad. pearl has much less midlane read but a killer strong backend.

Drilled a Gladiator for a very good friend/customer (rev dominant 15-16 mph w/high tilt at about 55-60 axis rotation...likes 8 board..haha) and I saw a very controlled strong movement from the ball with very good hitting power. (fwiw).
Overall take: NICE.....I'm on the west coast where the wall's or THS's are fairly common and his reaction was very consistent(on the tug line or those who need a little help in the dirt). The hitting power was good...still pretty impressed for stronger handed players (who need to get left) and those who have a fair amount of dry to deal with, it won't just scream left, it came but came where you could watch it walk into the hole.....nice control with power. Nice job Jason....I really like it. I'll call you bro...

For those of you who don't know me...
Want credentials?...Ex Track staffer last 6 yrs (AMF before that), Track Tech Supposrt Staff last yr....but basically a bowler at heart who can see reaction...sorry but I don't come in this area much but this IS a very nice piece. (Thank you Charlest for your recommendation to my friend, I really appreciate it.

Rick,
Credentials? Not needed, even here. If they don't know you, they should.
No problem about the recommendation my pleasure. That's what we're all here for.
