Good Scores???
« on: September 15, 2008, 12:41:51 AM »
Who's been rollin' some good scores with Visionary equipment so far this new fall season?

I haven't put together a great set yet but like what I see with the Blurple and Solid Gladiator.  269 so far.

What ya got to report????  Like to hear how others are doing.  Where from?  Lane conditon?  League or tourney?

Now's the time to crow about your bowling prowess.

Congrats Gary!! Good rolling bro!

Will finally get back onto this thread for scores instead of commentary.

I've been struggling as of late in the normal league.  I think I am more burnt out on the drama of the team and it's not the same as it was the beginning of the year so I am just not into it now.

Subbing on Thursday and using the G3 mostly as lanes are reacting well with it.  Got to finally shoot some games with the Ogre SS as well.

Last night though, 300 out of the gate with the G3.  Still hit 225 and 212 though the 12 shots in the second game were just as good if not better than the 12 in the first game.  Interesting how that works out.

G3 is strong.....I will say that!!

Well I finally have something decent to report in this thread. Set a personal best in series last night with a 655. Yeah it's low. Had a chance for 700+ last night but I blew it the last game by not throwing like I was the previous two games. I went 244-245-166 with a bronze centaur I got from charlest a couple months ago where I only plugged the fingers (i dont use grips) and slugged the thumb with a mold I made of by thumb and kept the layout the same.

I really didn't care for the ball that much until I tried a cover adjustment on it , played a totally different line that I've never played before. It first started on Wednesday night with a G-3 I have that has never impressed me personally either until I changed the cover on it too and played that different line (left foot on 20, targeting 11/12. Shot 203-149-233 that night with it just threw the ball horrible that second game.

Cause on Thursday nights I bowl a second shift I wanted a ball with a medium RG and medium differential as the G-3 is low RG medium differential, to read later I used that one.
I bowl both shifts tonight and I will shoot 7+ tonight!

Posted: 4/24/2009 7:41 AM   Reply with quote   VERY VERY well done G!!! Great bowling and congrats on the 300.

How do the G3 and the SS compare???

Thanks!!

SS is definitely longer than the G3...hands down.  Ball gets down and has a strong read....but with my speed at times....I don't like that reaction.  I'm just not a fan of throwing the ball and sitting there saying to myself..."OK...anytime you want to flip....come on....come on".  LOL!!

I took some of the OOB finish off it and now it reads earlier and instill a little more confidence.  Still a strong pop for the finish.

In terms of comparing....I feel the G3 is more well rounded.  For my game and with how I throw, the G3 allows me to swing the ball (for me.... ) and play down and in and anywhere in between.

Not so sure of the SS yet.  Playing mostly down and in with it only.

Off the dry....G3 seems to react a lot sooner than the SS though.

Thanks G for the breakdown. I am a BIG fan of the SS. I was thinking of adding a G3 for a ball to sit between the OPart and the SS. Still toying with the idea of drilling another OPart and taking it to 4000 with polish. I am thinking that would be a great ball for a THS. Length with a readible reaction and plenty of pop at the pindeck.

Krumpy, the only thing is the G3 has a little of the polish off as well.  That would probably account for the slightly early read as well....but off the dry it moves!!  I've never seen the O Particle shined...so I really can't comment.  It would be an interesting test though.

Just wanted to congratulate D. Scott Johnson on some great bowling in the Terre Haute Mens city tournament.  Using an Immortal Solid, he shot 810 in singles, 707 in doubles, and 757 in team for a new city tournament record 2275 all events total.   Congrats!

Congrats......though that could have been mine!  Man....if I knew there was an 800  in that ball I would have gladly traded that Gladiator Solid for it!!

I thought Jim's (jkiser01) stuff was the only ones with 300 and 800s still left in them.

747 with the Ogre (solid)

Just got home from final position round in one league. I was going to either throw the Ogre solid or a Roto Grip Mercury. Two completely different balls with way different layouts and coverstock finish.
Started with the Ogre in practice and couldn't find a line plus wasn't throwing it well and never got to try any other ball nor wanted too for whatever reason. Started with a brooklyn strike, moved on the next shot and left a wide open split. From there I struck out for 266. Next game was on still on fire and strikes galore and had front 8 before nerves got to me I guess and pulled it left for a 8 count, spared and struck out in the 10th for 278. I was 144 up after two games and knew I could shoot 800 with the reaction I had and as well as I was throwing it. But a double came late thanks to a 10 and 3 7 pins with a 4 pin in there and in the 10th on the first ball left another 7. After picking it up on the fill ball I really tried to grab and rev it up really hard after being soft the whole night and left a Big 4 for that dumb mistake.

Shot 300 before and was hoping to get my 3rd one but have never been close going into the 3rd game to have an opportunity too shoot the impossible 800 and would easily take that any day over a perfect game. Though if I shot one the first or second game I would not only love it, it would have made going for the 800 that much easier!

First 300 last night with a used Immortal Pearl that I bought off someone here (don't remember who it was and I lost my emails when my hard drive crashed recently).  THS league pattern, 44 ft.

Took most of the summer off to rest a weary mind.....just had no desire to bowl for once and really....really needed a rest!!

Have slowly gotten back into the mix and had a nice set last Monday throwing the Ogre Pearl and Immortal Pearl.  I forgot how much I really liked the Ogre Pearl.  Have used it as the mainstay last 2 weeks for the most part.

Shot 262-216-272 for a nice 750 last Monday with OP for first 2 games and IP for last.  Played down and in and then moved left about 10 or so for last game with IP.

I don't think 800....rarely....but with how I was throwing the ball I was thinking it!!  Second game cost me....I had a shot at 280 when I whiffed a 4 (yes....sad!) pin in the 9th and a 10 pin in the 10th.  Had a shot a 290 in last game but my second big 4 of the night cost me there in the 11th.  Oh well....I'll take what I shot....gladly!!
