Good Scores???
« on: September 15, 2008, 12:41:51 AM »
Who's been rollin' some good scores with Visionary equipment so far this new fall season?

I haven't put together a great set yet but like what I see with the Blurple and Solid Gladiator.  269 so far.

What ya got to report????  Like to hear how others are doing.  Where from?  Lane conditon?  League or tourney?

Now's the time to crow about your bowling prowess.

Thanks, been on a roll lately....working on keeping the armswing loose and rolling the ball more rather than throwing it.

Almost shot another one last night, went front 7, missed the move and left a 4pin, threw a double, then stoned an 8pin for 268 (738 set)

Buddy on my team, ebonite staffer shot 300 the same game i shot 268!

    Good to hear!

BTW....I like the way you laid out your website with the drilling angles, VAL angles and total angles on your equipment.  http://www.bowl4money.com/what.html

    What's your PAP and stats.?

I'd put the Visionary link on your site.

My PAP right now is 4 5/8 right, 1/2 up.  I'm going to check it again today.

My speed is between 15 to mid-16, depending on the shot.
My rev rate is medium to upper medium depending on the shot.

I've never been tested so I would be able to give exacts, just going by what the avg. range.

I haven't drilled any of the new 9 balls i've gotten.  I've been waiting to take my axis measurement again one more time.  Then I will put all the angles and such back on the site.....

My axis has changed over the years.

    2003-06 - 4 right 3/8 down
    2006 - 2008 - 4 1/2 right
    JAN. 2008 - AUG. 2008 - 4 3/8 right 5/16 up
    SEPT. 2008 - PRESENT - 4 5/8 right 1/2 up

259-236-262 - 757 New personal high with B/G Centaur.  Long story but, I only made 3 spares all night.  Had 1 split and missed two 10-pins in the second game or it would have been higher.

Nice rolling Mark!!!  Tell us about youer lane condition and why you use the B/G Centaur.  I'm always interested as to why bowlers use specific pieces to match their game up to the lane conditions at hand.

OK Scott you asked.  I bowl in a Christian men's league.  The real interesting tidbit is that there is a gentleman who bowls in the league who is blind.  As a result he needs help getting to the line.  They use portable rails that they set up on the alleys he bowls on.  So we ended up bowling against his team last night.  Wonderful bunch of guys but, the rails for Terry (the blind man) make shooting anything on the right hand side difficult for us righties.  It also makes standing far left and cranking or even swinging the ball fairly difficult as well.  We have bowled against this team twice in league play.  Both times I have pulled out the B/G, stood center and played just inside of the second arrow and rolled down and in.  First time I shot 685 and last night the 757.  The B/G holds a nice tight line and does not over react on the backend so it makes it perfect for this application.

Overall I used 3 Visionary balls.  I have a Charcoal Executioner that I use for most applications.  I've rolled my high game of 297 and 3 different 700's with it since last March.  I also picked up an Immortal Solid that I use for a heavier oil pattern but, I don't get to use it much as I like the Charcoal better and it seems to cover most conditions.

So there you have a short story made long.

Good info. Mark!  Looks like you chose the right ball for the application.

It's what makes Visionary good in that they offer a lil something for everybody.

Friday night in league I had a good night with my Gladiator Pearl.  Shot 300-246-243=789.  Had a really nice line all night.  2nd ball of the 10th in the 2nd game had a pocket 7-10 (pretty common for our house)  The 800-killer was all my fault though.  9th of the 3rd game, tugged the shot a little and left the 6-10, but proceeded to tug the spare shot also and missed.  Turkeyed the 10th. (Figures!)  I'll take it though.  It's my first honor score with Visionary equipment.

I got this ball primarily to replace one of my other ones.  I was big on Banger when they first came out, and really liked the Hole Pounder Pearl, but with all the problems they've been having, I wanted to get something else and the G-Pearl seemed like a very close replacement.  The early rolling pearl matches up well with my style.  I'm very happy with the ball so far, and I always have people asking me what I'm throwing, as the ball is a pretty unique looking orb.

Bringing this back to the top.

Last night in a 3 man league on older Bruns Anvilane 1st Generation....have to play 'em pretty straight as that is where the best carry seems to be.  Started with Ogre Particle....not a good choice get to the hole but leave some designer spares.  Change to B/G Centaur move everything right and bingo nice game.....lanes transition some with more carry down.  Team mates are playing same line as well as 2 of the other team...more carry down in front of the 1-3 making small differential B/G kind of back up a little so I change to a weak drilled Immortal Solid pin over middle 5 1/2" pin to PAP CG/MB kicked in MB winding up 2" right of my thumb drilled an X hole this week on the gradient line in basic P3 position giving the IS with 7/8 oz. finger weight. Took it to 2000ab. I haven't measured the dual angle numbers...have to do that.

So, I go in the last game first 10.....10 pin make for a 289.  I've always wondered about using this ball straight up but thought it might be too strong but not on this condition.  Should have done the X hole a long time ago and used this ball for this type of shot.  Makes ya think sheesh what the heck have you been doing dummy!

For those that have never tried a strong ball weakly drilled on a straighter trajectory this might be the ticket.  I can't pitch it outside and have the recovery of most balls but if you have the game to play straight this layout and ability to carry on some carry down is better than most....I was impressed and also dissapointed in myself that I hadn't tried this earlier.

Who is gonna shoot some big numbers with a NEW BREED pearl or solid?????

I'm putting my money on gsback. He's been lights out since he got the Gladiator twins, so if these balls are like Gladiators on steroids, no doubt he'll post the numbers. I'm always at least 1-2 lines behind him, so don't look to add a New Breed until next year! Happy with my Glad Solid right now. Great piece!

Nice shooting Scott.  I'm hanging on the fence to get a Glad Pearl or New Breed pearl for the Village Lanes mess.
