Who's been rollin' some good scores with Visionary equipment so far this new fall season?
I haven't put together a great set yet but like what I see with the Blurple and Solid Gladiator. 269 so far.
What ya got to report???? Like to hear how others are doing. Where from? Lane conditon? League or tourney?
Now's the time to crow about your bowling prowess.

I will say I had a nice 6 pin increase in average over the summer playing around with all the new stuff. This between normal league at 219 and my Youth/Adult with my son (219 as well) where I actually threw my first sanctioned 300 with the Blurple.
Right now, I am liking everything I have in the bag!!

Nothing special, but so far Ive been averaging around 205 with the the 2 AMB centaurs. Its up 15 pins from last season so Im happy. I think PBA patterns helped it some, though.
-
Had a 279 second game with my SS last friday.

Well as of Yesterday I've had good scores with my new InSite Second Coming and InSite SuperNatural. They are basically Visionary bowling balls, same covers different cores, Visionary made them for Mark Russo.

I have started slow this year, just started to carry Visionary products, but last week the Ogre pearl I sold was high in the league, and another guy shot 275 with the Gladiator Solid I drilled him.
-
I bought an Ogre Pearl before the beginning of league and put about 9 games on it.
So far this year:
768 and 696 in my Monday night league. I averaged 215 last year so this is a great start.
691 on Thursday (I averaged 232 last year is the IS) and I am subbing tonight for a friend and plan on using it.
I am very impressed with this ball. I have an Immortal Solid (I used a lot last year) as well but have not needed it due to the strengths of this ball so far.
-
I bought a Gladiator solid back in July and had it drilled at the end of August.I was not real happy with it.My thinking was it had an asymetrical core, and i don't like asym. cores in my bowling balls.
This ball has proved me wrong. My last two series has been 700 and 727.This ball is the best in carry that i have used in 4 years.
The Glad. solid works best on a medium oiled ths.I own several Visionary balls and the Glad. solid along with the Ogre pearl will handle any shot.Great stuff Visionary.

Even though it's an asymmetric.....the MB differential is nothing like most asymmetric's. The Gladiator's great quality is that they are very smooth off the break point for most bowlers. The same quality that the Char Ex has/had.
Great shooting tog831.

-
Put some more games on my Glad Pearl today in practice. VERY easy to control, especially off the breakpoint. Started playing out but was able to move in as the shot broke down and still had a great reaction.
Had a 279 with it on Sunday in league.
Also got to see Charlest's Orange Warlock in action today, very sweet rolling ball.
-
Got a bud that's been hitting them real good with a SS. He raised his average 20 pins and has a few 260+ games.
Man that ball is damn sweet.

Best so far this year was Monday night. Using a Blue/Green Centaur I had a 685 (yes I blew the 700) with a 257 middle game.
Hopefully better to come.

Wed. night report on a lighter medium lane condition on older 12 year old -Brunswick Anvilhang. Used the favorite Ogre Pearl at 4000ab 185-247-236=668. Nothing special but most were having a heck of a time on this pair with carry and lane conditioner carry down. Even lane carried down and odd freed up 2nd game. OP still is one of the best Visionary balls in these past few years for me.
--------------------
Scott
-
I'll tell you what Scott....the more and more I use the Glad Pearl....the more and more I really like that ball.
Played A game for 1st game and that netted me nothing...205. Now we were bowling a handicap team (literally) and they all throw plastic...so oil is everywhere.
I go Glad Pearl outside playing down and in....248-217 to finish off a decent 670. The ball was money in the pocket....so long as I didn't get soft. Last game I either struck of split. Granted the 217 isn't much, but again....in the pocket equaled 10 in the pit.
That ball is really starting to shine!!

I agree with G. Lanes got blown up a bit last night and I was able to wheel the GP and still get a strong controllable reaction. It is strong enough in the midlane that it doesn't miss the breakpoint even on shots missed in. And it doesn't super snap off the dry either.
Took me a few frames to get the angle right but once I did, I had a big game.
The GP is much more versatile than I could have imagined.
-
The smooooooth roll of that Gladiator core. It's the oppo of the Mean Greenie, G-3 and Crimson Ex.
You guys likey.....I'll have to get one....one of these days.

Well, had a nice little set for the my first 700 of the year last night.
Threw the Gladiator Pearl all night playing down and in. Never moved all night, only threw a little harder to maintain the same shot.
237-238-243 for a 718.
I think there are going to be many more of these nights with that ball!!

Update from travel yesterday.....using the Glad Pearl.
Shot 280 for first set game. Sadly, not 700. Got too soft on multiple shots in the next 2 games and just didn't finish strong...210 and 197.
Ball last for all 6 games for the day, though I had to throw it hard in the last set.

Just thought I would throw this one out there, because I just received the information and he took over the high set for the year.
Bengie Garrison shot games of 300-300-268 with the Green Blue Centaur in Hammond Indiana last week. Great shooting Bengie.

I had a 277 the first game last night with the pink centaur, it went downhill fast and hard after that though.
-
Nice shooting all!!!
Just got to use my Ogre Particle in league now that there is a bit more oil in the heads last night. Nothing special 240 and 235 but it has such a nice ball motion. I am really liking this ball.

i havent put anything good together for the fall season as I started in a slump but figured it out to finally shoot 619.
but this summer I ended with highest average as well as series which was 697.
Im loving the gladiator line especially the solid. the ogres have been sitting for the first few weeks as the backend has just been too much for me to tame and the gladiators have been just so smooth and strong why switch?
great stuff from visionary.

269-22-243 for a 734 with my trusty Charcoal Executioner. Missed two 10-pins in second game and had another open in the 3rd game. Otherwise I could've been in 760-770 range.

Shot TCBA All-Star tourney this past weekend. Played Gladiator Pearl first set of 4 games and averaged 217 for the set. Played the next set of 4 and average 226. Really didn’t move at all for the 8 games in the two sets. All I did was change hand positions to come the side of the ball for the first set to getting behind the ball for the second set.
And then there’s last night. Had the front 11 and then got fast on the last one leaving the 2-4-5 for a 297 game. I told Jason that my next honor score will be with the Gladiator Pearl. It’s no ring, but it’s still an 11 in a row score.
Thanks to Jason as well for being out there this weekend with the TCBA!! It was great to spend the day out there with him. He had balls drilled up so people could try the new lineup and people were taking advantage of the opportunity!!
Looking forward to the TCBA Nats in May now.

Both are with 5+ Pin to PAP drillings and last week popped a big set using just my G-3.
239 - 265 - 275 = 779 series
Bowling Buddy of mine is avg. 230+ in KS just shot 800 series with the Gladiator Solid.

Well the lane machine had been messed up for the first few weeks, so finding the shot and keeping it was a little tough. My high is 701 right now with the Immortal Pearl. I just drilled up the SS and Ogre Particle. Had 243-259 with the SS with the front 7 in each on friday. I should've put it away, but was reluctant when I had bowled great for the first 2 games. Next time I'll be a little smarter. I can't say enough about VBP. I think the Ogre series is the best I've thrown in a while, especially at that price point

Add to this the fact that Jason has a rep out here in the Dallas area named Willie Wells. Willie has been tearing up the Senior tour they have here (SASBA) placing in the top 5 in the last couple tournaments he's been in, including winning one of them.
He's been tearing the lanes up with the Gladiator Pearl. And when I met and talked with him during TCBA All-Stars, he had great things to say about the Ogre Particle, which is to be expected.

Yes and No. I was bowling with the Immortal Pearl and only playing a small swing, however, when I got the ball in a little, it would make enough turn to wither stick a 4 pin or go through the face.
As the lanes started to open up in the track area and I started chasing the shot left, the Imm Pearl was getting into a roll way too fast and wrapping 10's. I went to the G-3 and moved in just a little. This time, if I got the ball inside my mark a board or two, it was High Flush.
Last night, tried a different approach games 1 & 2 with a pin under Gladiator Solid and a pin under ogre, they were okay, but didn't give me the little extra I felt I needed on the backend. So midway through game 2, I switched to the Imm Pearl, saw how that was starting to roll after a few frames, and then on my fill in the 10th threw the G-3.
Made a small move left game 3, went front 6 or 7, wrapped a 10, sheet with 9 count on fill for 278.
Going to drill 8 new balls (all VBP too!)so hopefully i'll have some honor scores soon.

Good to hear!
BTW....I like the way you laid out your website with the drilling angles, VAL angles and total angles on your equipment. http://www.bowl4money.com/what.html
What's your PAP and stats.?

My PAP right now is 4 5/8 right, 1/2 up. I'm going to check it again today.
My speed is between 15 to mid-16, depending on the shot.
My rev rate is medium to upper medium depending on the shot.
I've never been tested so I would be able to give exacts, just going by what the avg. range.
I haven't drilled any of the new 9 balls i've gotten. I've been waiting to take my axis measurement again one more time. Then I will put all the angles and such back on the site.....
My axis has changed over the years.
2003-06 - 4 right 3/8 down
2006 - 2008 - 4 1/2 right
JAN. 2008 - AUG. 2008 - 4 3/8 right 5/16 up

Nice rolling Mark!!! Tell us about youer lane condition and why you use the B/G Centaur. I'm always interested as to why bowlers use specific pieces to match their game up to the lane conditions at hand.

OK Scott you asked. I bowl in a Christian men's league. The real interesting tidbit is that there is a gentleman who bowls in the league who is blind. As a result he needs help getting to the line. They use portable rails that they set up on the alleys he bowls on. So we ended up bowling against his team last night. Wonderful bunch of guys but, the rails for Terry (the blind man) make shooting anything on the right hand side difficult for us righties. It also makes standing far left and cranking or even swinging the ball fairly difficult as well. We have bowled against this team twice in league play. Both times I have pulled out the B/G, stood center and played just inside of the second arrow and rolled down and in. First time I shot 685 and last night the 757. The B/G holds a nice tight line and does not over react on the backend so it makes it perfect for this application.
Overall I used 3 Visionary balls. I have a Charcoal Executioner that I use for most applications. I've rolled my high game of 297 and 3 different 700's with it since last March. I also picked up an Immortal Solid that I use for a heavier oil pattern but, I don't get to use it much as I like the Charcoal better and it seems to cover most conditions.
So there you have a short story made long.

268 last night with the FMG, lanes changes early game 2 so Switched to another ball after that.
-
Friday night in league I had a good night with my Gladiator Pearl. Shot 300-246-243=789. Had a really nice line all night. 2nd ball of the 10th in the 2nd game had a pocket 7-10 (pretty common for our house) The 800-killer was all my fault though. 9th of the 3rd game, tugged the shot a little and left the 6-10, but proceeded to tug the spare shot also and missed. Turkeyed the 10th. (Figures!) I'll take it though. It's my first honor score with Visionary equipment.
I got this ball primarily to replace one of my other ones. I was big on Banger when they first came out, and really liked the Hole Pounder Pearl, but with all the problems they've been having, I wanted to get something else and the G-Pearl seemed like a very close replacement. The early rolling pearl matches up well with my style. I'm very happy with the ball so far, and I always have people asking me what I'm throwing, as the ball is a pretty unique looking orb.

Bringing this back to the top.
Last night in a 3 man league on older Bruns Anvilane 1st Generation....have to play 'em pretty straight as that is where the best carry seems to be. Started with Ogre Particle....not a good choice get to the hole but leave some designer spares. Change to B/G Centaur move everything right and bingo nice game.....lanes transition some with more carry down. Team mates are playing same line as well as 2 of the other team...more carry down in front of the 1-3 making small differential B/G kind of back up a little so I change to a weak drilled Immortal Solid pin over middle 5 1/2" pin to PAP CG/MB kicked in MB winding up 2" right of my thumb drilled an X hole this week on the gradient line in basic P3 position giving the IS with 7/8 oz. finger weight. Took it to 2000ab. I haven't measured the dual angle numbers...have to do that.
So, I go in the last game first 10.....10 pin make for a 289. I've always wondered about using this ball straight up but thought it might be too strong but not on this condition. Should have done the X hole a long time ago and used this ball for this type of shot. Makes ya think sheesh what the heck have you been doing dummy!
For those that have never tried a strong ball weakly drilled on a straighter trajectory this might be the ticket. I can't pitch it outside and have the recovery of most balls but if you have the game to play straight this layout and ability to carry on some carry down is better than most....I was impressed and also dissapointed in myself that I hadn't tried this earlier.

I'm putting my money on gsback. He's been lights out since he got the Gladiator twins, so if these balls are like Gladiators on steroids, no doubt he'll post the numbers. I'm always at least 1-2 lines behind him, so don't look to add a New Breed until next year! Happy with my Glad Solid right now. Great piece!

Nice shooting Scott. I'm hanging on the fence to get a Glad Pearl or New Breed pearl for the Village Lanes mess.
-
Darin,
I don't think I'd be scared to try a New Breed Pearl at Village. 3-4 more boards hook Jason says.
--------------------
Scott
-
Village has been pretty dry on the high side of the house. The Up-Rising just rips left the last couple of feet. I really like the look of the GP but maybe a new breed drilled weak. I want to avoid the drastic jump off the dry.
-
Maybe the Glad. Pearl then as it's smoother off the break point. I know my Glad. Solid is smooth like a Char Ex was smooth. I'd think the New Breed Pearl would be more like your old Crimson Ex a more pronounced move off the spot.
--------------------
Scott
-
I had front 10 and left a 9pin for 289 with a Gladiator Solid.
-
Looks like I'm in a good groove. Had a real good look the 2nd game tonight in leagues with my Gladiator Pearl. Wound up with a 299. The 6-pin came off the wall and slapped the 10, sliding it in between the 8 and 9 spots on the lane. The lane machine thought it was a strike, and after everyone got done with their yelling/condolences/laughing, I had to go and change my score from a 300 to the 299.
It's my first 299, so I'll take it. The ball was dead flush and it was kind of a freak thing to happen, especially on the last ball.
-
Congrats to people still shooting good!! Keep up the posting!!

Hi! Shot 289/710 & 289/741 with the Gladiator Solid. Both 289's left the dreaded 10 pin on the 11th ball.
-
Another good night. 279-757 With the Gladiator Pearl again. Left the 2 pin was my fault. Didn't get it out far enough n the 3rd frame and it skated on the oil and never got to the dry outside and came up way light. The rest were right in there.

Shot 735 with G-3 Gryphon on 40' THS (221, 260, 254)
Shot 668 with Ogre particle on 38' THS (258, 198, 212)
Shot 671 with Green Gargoyle on 36' THS (241, 204, 226)
Then almost shot 190 Triplicate with my Bronze Centaur

I shared this sentiment before as well.....comparing the Hammer Blade line with the Ogre lineup. I thought when Ebonite bought Hammer, the Blade line was what really gave them something for most bowlers to go with allowing for max performance for the best price.
The Ogre line is the new king for that.....hands down!!

Well Scott, not the greatest set as it should have been higher, but at least I got the all important first game with it.
300-201-246 last night with the New Breed Pearl.
I've actually noticed that something was off with me lately....shooting has not been consistent. Shot 7 games on Saturday and am noticing that I am not playing that 3rd line consistently with the slight swing/big belly hook as was evidence by leaves and scores. Moved right and played the real tight bellyhook and the scores were there.
Decided to try the NB Pearl first out as it's been a while since I did and I had 2 looks....and decided to go with the basic down and in shot. Worked real nice and got a little confidence back. Just what I needed.

Nice to hear Gary and nice rolling!!!! I was waiting to hear from one of us to hit an honor score.
BTW.....I went back to my all Visionary line-up. Ogre Particle, Solid Glad, Ogre Pearl, SS Ogre and Glowing Amulet. I'll add one maybe both of the New Breed's this year.
How are your NB's laid out? I like Stephen Hahn's NB Solid layout and thinking of trying something like that with the drilling angles near the same for heavier.

Thanks Scott...Norcal. It was nice getting that one with one of the new balls!!
As for layouts:
NB Pearl - http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk113/gary_lum/New_Breed_Pearl.jpg
NB Solid - http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk113/gary_lum/New_Breed_Solid.jpg
As with most of my Vis stuff, the layouts are very close. Ogre Particle and Blue Centaur Particle are completely different, and the Violet I do have a label leverage drill instead.
But, I do like how the balls rolls for me that way.

729 with the NB pearl, let up on a couple of shots, and left a few baby splits. That ball is awesome, once i'm dialed in i can usually play with my speed to stay in the same spot for all 3 games. I love the area that this ball gives you.

Looks like I need to get my new breeds soon! I'm not sure though how Im gonna drill them and at what specs I wanna get.
Im really loving my all Executioner lineup, with either a Gladiator solid or Frankie May mixed within the four ball bag.
I still have a Gladiator Pearl thats NIB... Too many choices are both good and bad!

Matt,
Look at Stephen Hahn's layout for his NB's. Solid NB Pin up left of ring with tighter drilling angle 55 and VAL angle 45 and his Pearl NB with pin under and more opened up angles. Not sure of his stats. but he's an above average tweener. http://www.bowl4money.com/what.html

Not a 700 or even a really big game but, the first time out with my FMG that I picked up from Trimman. 257-235-191 683. Lanes were pretty oily and it carrried down for the 3rd game. The second game included an 8-10 split in the 10th frame.

Been struggling mightily on my Tuesday league. The shot, even though it's second shift after a women's league, usually starts off decent. But I die as the shot breaks down and I have to move in. There's no oil/hold inside and the outsides are already beat up. I threw a coat of polish on the B/G Centaur figuring I could at least stay outside or near the track the whole night. Wish I would have thought of it earlier. 266-185-267 for 718. First game was the front 9 with a pocket 7-10. Middle game was no carry. 4 pin, another pocket 7-10, a few more 4's and a 10 or two. Finally got lined up again the last game. A few single pins and another 9 in a row. I've only thrown the Centaur about 6 weeks total, but I've had at least 9 in a row 4 or 5 times. I can't even remember why I took it out of the bag.

783 with my new Ogre SS hot off the press

Don't know why it took me so long to drill another, one of my all time favorites. Was also able to use it all 3 games which is a bonus with this ball. Drilled it pin over ring and swung the cg an inch (5x4).
For those of you who need some length and a ball that you know will corner, this is a great ball. Can handle a little oil as well as long as the backends aren't too spotty.
-
Nice rollin' Krumpy!!!!
As spring approaches with warmer weather and lanes dry out B/G Centaur and SS Ogre are my favs!
--------------------
Scott
-
Thank you very much Scott.
My Crimson Ex and SS will be a nice combo for the last few weeks. I am in a Trio league on fresh oil and they toast up pretty good by the middle of the 2nd game. I had a BGC, but I could never come up with a good surface that worked for me. Going to have to drill another at some point and try again.
I have a Greenie NIB that is calling me but it may be overkill. I did take a Glad Solid drilled 4.5x4.5 to 1000 plus Beans SS and had a great reaction as well in practice but I knew when the lanes started to change, the SS was the better choice.

You did remember to put some soothing bubble bath in before soaking the ball, right? If not, there's your problem. It's the bowling ball way of busting that throbbing vessel in her forehead...

I've got a used SS that is pin next to ring out about an inch and CG mid grip label layout. I may plug this and see how much difference there is bewteen pin up over bridge and the label one.
I am seeing less and less oil as spring approaches. Used a B/G Centaur last night fluffing it up 10 and prior to that right of track using plastic.....built a nice hold area.
Might be time to start bringing Amulet Glow soon!

The SS can be a bit over under, have you played with the surface at all??? I like mine because I don't throw the ball overly hard (16-17 on Quibeca) and I am able to open up the lane with mine. Plus my release tends to smooth out any jumpiness off the spot.
Don't give up on it, but it isn't a benchmark ball by any means, unless you bowl on lighter patterns with clean backends.

That is how my Ogre Pearl is drilled. I like it most of the time. Have taken it from OOB to 4000ab back to OOB.
I am pretty convinced than on most THS China that most of us can use SS's, OP's, and B/G's with great results.

been using an ogre pearl and ogre ss almost drilled exactly the same stacked lev pin just barely above the ring and to the right.
consistently over 600 for the past 3 weeks with the ogre pearl as i changed my entire way my balls are drilled and only had the pearl. so i went to practice with my redrilled ogre ss and the trusty ogre pearl.
wasnt even trying first game and shot 182... ok not bad for practice. then i stop goofing around and throw the front 7.... ending with a 237? i think. then a 220+ (front 5)
for a 641. haha wasnt really trying and had a new thumb drilled and not enough tape for my middle finger (no grips / white tape) and i still managed to dominate the china shot.
BTW this was at jersey lanes in NJ(duh) and after a league beat up the lanes.

It maybe my high ball speed that hurts me or maybe I'm just throwing it wrong. I'm going to take it to maroon pad and storm step 2. I've played with the coverstock alittle bit. The only problem is that was before I started keeping track of coverstock mods so I might as well start from scratch. I bowl second shift tonight so we'll see what happens.

21 in a row with the Ogre Particle last night. Put a light coat of LM polish on it and just took it to 2000 for my league on Thursday which has a little more oil.
To me, this ball reminds me of a BGC with more hook overall, very similar motion for me. Everyone was moaning how the lanes were breaking down and the OPART was smooth as silk.
If you bowl on a shot with heavy oil up front I highly recommend this ball. As Scott33 stated, just get it on line and it will do the rest. Shots that look high just set up and it has just enough movement to rip the rack on half pocket shots. Not a ball to go coast to coast with though.

Thank You MI2AZ. I went 228-300-264. Started with a ball that didn't read the midlane as well and switched about 5 frames too late. Sometimes you just have to admit that as hard as you try, you can't make every ball work, at least I can't. Went 9 pin in the 10th and switched to the O-PART for the fill ball.
Right lane had carrydown but the O-PART pretty much ignored it. As the game progressed my reaction got better. Pulled the 11th one a hair and ball just set for a high flush. Moved 2-1 on the left lane to start the 3rd game on the lane that was making everyone nuts and the O-PART just held the line so well, was almost unfair.
Got really pumped up in the 9th and just flew it by the breakpoint for a 2-4-10. Could not get angry at all because it was such a fun string. Very interesting ball so far

One of my better scores this year......last night on older wood and finally the ladies league in front of us is done...now we are on fresh.
Ogre Particle for first two games 270 & 255. Ogre Pearl last game as mids were broken down 238 for 763.
Just as Krumpy/Ken has been saying the Ogre Particle is amazing....just let it do the work. I used my fluffer style no hand sliding 21 up 9-10 at arrows and holding a tight line.
Great ball Visionary!!!

Great bowling Scott! Very well done!! Solid especially on wood.

So where is the bad score thread? lol

Jeff S had the other OP redrilled and the operator didn't listen to his request of pin over the ring finger with the CG near the midline.
What he got was pin in the bridge with the CG kicked right that looked to be about a mile away.
He has low rpms to begin with and this ball just dies on the backend. What a waste of a drill on a good ball. It reminds me of my Creature solid, just rolly on drier lanes, useless because you can't get too deep, and skate on any kind of oil.
Hopefully he'll get the operator to listen on the next Visionary ball he punches up.

We may have to start a bad score thread
Thanks a shame Anthony. That ball is pretty midlane dominant to begin with. Any chance of bringing the cover up to see if it can store some energy??? Or is there another shot that Jeff bowls on that he could use it on??
-
Yeah, after talking to Jeff T and a few of the Vis guys here we tried to avoid any CG kick at all but I guess there was a huge brain fart with the operator.
At Carolier lately the lanes have been fried so his SS is more useful with it's length and strong finish.
Jeff should get use out of this OP in the summer at Majestic. On the mild China he can probably get a controlled bounce off the dry without over reaction. He had success with the OS last year thanks to the slow response to friction.
He'll kill me but for the record he shot 156.

Wish I had my digital camera running. This might give an idea how my Ogre Pearl and Ogre Particle are drilled. No X hole on the Pearl Have it now as close as I can get to OOB. Basic Storm Step #2 with moderate amount of pressure. Ogre Particle is OOB 1000ab w/slight amount of Legends polish over. My PAP is 4 7/8 over and 0.

Scott your layout on the OP was the idea I had in mind for my buddy's but it didn't pan out. Maybe he can plug and redrill it a 4th time lol.
Um, what surface adjustment would you suggest, 4000ab matte, 2000ab polished? I don't have a lot to work with but I can try something for him next week.
--------------------
The original Pin Krusher
-
A_P_K,
The illustration is pretty crude. Pin is right over my ring Cg kicked in a little about 1/2" right of mid grip on the mid line.
I've tried it at OOB and 4000 abralon. When I want to control the backend for me and the backends are flying I've used it at 4000ab. You get a little more arcing reaction with it at 4000ab. Since, I've been bowling more tourneys in WI <Sr. State, State and local on older wood> I took it back to as close to as I can get OOB which I think is a moderate amount of pressure using Storm Step #2. I like the slightly more length and oooomph off the spot with the slight amount of carry down present. On synthetic, I'd get a better reaction at 4000ab on fresh.
It's plenty of ball for me with 4 1/2" pin to PAP and PAP to cg about 4 3/4". I have a Yeah Baby laid out like this and one of my favs. I also had a Awakening drilled like this which you know about A_P_K and for whatever reason the Ogre Pearl worked out as a better ball for me. I think I like the resin/cover Visionary uses better than 900g's BASF covers. Just a perosnal thing.
I use an SS Ogre pin over bridge and CG directly below as the next ball under when moving in on inside trajectories.

I should have put the Bounty away sooner. I shot 208 the first game for a nice 745 series.

777 tonight with the O-Part. Got 28 frames out of it before I had to move a board. Took it to 2000 and has been more versatile for me than at 1000. Had good success with Lanemasters polish on top of the 1000 as well.
Just a wonderful, predictable ball. You can't swing the whole lane with it, but if you like going flush shot after shot after shot, this ball definitely helps the cause.

Nice shooting Dbar....the O Pearl was the one I got my first 300 with. Love that ball.
Krumpy....can't agree more. That's the one thing I like about the O Particle is that it ignores a lot that other balls have problems with. We bowled a handicap team that uses plastic. I threw all 3 games with my O Particle in preparation of the slop going everywhere. Ball rolled well for all 3 games.

Will finally get back onto this thread for scores instead of commentary.
I've been struggling as of late in the normal league. I think I am more burnt out on the drama of the team and it's not the same as it was the beginning of the year so I am just not into it now.
Subbing on Thursday and using the G3 mostly as lanes are reacting well with it. Got to finally shoot some games with the Ogre SS as well.
Last night though, 300 out of the gate with the G3. Still hit 225 and 212 though the 12 shots in the second game were just as good if not better than the 12 in the first game. Interesting how that works out.
G3 is strong.....I will say that!!

SS is definitely longer than the G3...hands down. Ball gets down and has a strong read....but with my speed at times....I don't like that reaction. I'm just not a fan of throwing the ball and sitting there saying to myself..."OK...anytime you want to flip....come on....come on". LOL!!
I took some of the OOB finish off it and now it reads earlier and instill a little more confidence. Still a strong pop for the finish.
In terms of comparing....I feel the G3 is more well rounded. For my game and with how I throw, the G3 allows me to swing the ball (for me....
) and play down and in and anywhere in between.
Not so sure of the SS yet. Playing mostly down and in with it only.
Off the dry....G3 seems to react a lot sooner than the SS though.

Well I finally have something decent to report in this thread. Set a personal best in series last night with a 655. Yeah it's low. Had a chance for 700+ last night but I blew it the last game by not throwing like I was the previous two games. I went 244-245-166 with a bronze centaur I got from charlest a couple months ago where I only plugged the fingers (i dont use grips) and slugged the thumb with a mold I made of by thumb and kept the layout the same.
I really didn't care for the ball that much until I tried a cover adjustment on it , played a totally different line that I've never played before. It first started on Wednesday night with a G-3 I have that has never impressed me personally either until I changed the cover on it too and played that different line (left foot on 20, targeting 11/12. Shot 203-149-233 that night with it just threw the ball horrible that second game.
Cause on Thursday nights I bowl a second shift I wanted a ball with a medium RG and medium differential as the G-3 is low RG medium differential, to read later I used that one.
I bowl both shifts tonight and I will shoot 7+ tonight!

Thanks G for the breakdown. I am a BIG fan of the SS. I was thinking of adding a G3 for a ball to sit between the OPart and the SS. Still toying with the idea of drilling another OPart and taking it to 4000 with polish. I am thinking that would be a great ball for a THS. Length with a readible reaction and plenty of pop at the pindeck.

Krumpy, the only thing is the G3 has a little of the polish off as well. That would probably account for the slightly early read as well....but off the dry it moves!! I've never seen the O Particle shined...so I really can't comment. It would be an interesting test though.

747 with the Ogre (solid)
Just got home from final position round in one league. I was going to either throw the Ogre solid or a Roto Grip Mercury. Two completely different balls with way different layouts and coverstock finish.
Started with the Ogre in practice and couldn't find a line plus wasn't throwing it well and never got to try any other ball nor wanted too for whatever reason. Started with a brooklyn strike, moved on the next shot and left a wide open split. From there I struck out for 266. Next game was on still on fire and strikes galore and had front 8 before nerves got to me I guess and pulled it left for a 8 count, spared and struck out in the 10th for 278. I was 144 up after two games and knew I could shoot 800 with the reaction I had and as well as I was throwing it. But a double came late thanks to a 10 and 3 7 pins with a 4 pin in there and in the 10th on the first ball left another 7. After picking it up on the fill ball I really tried to grab and rev it up really hard after being soft the whole night and left a Big 4 for that dumb mistake.
Shot 300 before and was hoping to get my 3rd one but have never been close going into the 3rd game to have an opportunity too shoot the impossible 800 and would easily take that any day over a perfect game. Though if I shot one the first or second game I would not only love it, it would have made going for the 800 that much easier!

Took most of the summer off to rest a weary mind.....just had no desire to bowl for once and really....really needed a rest!!
Have slowly gotten back into the mix and had a nice set last Monday throwing the Ogre Pearl and Immortal Pearl. I forgot how much I really liked the Ogre Pearl. Have used it as the mainstay last 2 weeks for the most part.
Shot 262-216-272 for a nice 750 last Monday with OP for first 2 games and IP for last. Played down and in and then moved left about 10 or so for last game with IP.
I don't think 800....rarely....but with how I was throwing the ball I was thinking it!! Second game cost me....I had a shot at 280 when I whiffed a 4 (yes....sad!) pin in the 9th and a 10 pin in the 10th. Had a shot a 290 in last game but my second big 4 of the night cost me there in the 11th. Oh well....I'll take what I shot....gladly!!

Ogre Pearl for most is one of the best medium pearl arcing balls Gary!
This layout http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q29/scotts33/VisOgrePearl.jpg works great from an outside angle for me but not as well deeper than third arrow.

Pin up there just doesn't work well for me. I find that with my speed and all, I'd rather have it a little more aggressive and adjust my hand position to get less on it. I do love the Ogre Pearl though.....just forgot how good it really is!!

Good game Larry! Congrats. I wondered if Watertown 18 would have enough oil to use the Ogre Particle. 230 n up says there is as he uses a VG mainly but on a 3 man league.

Threw NB Pearl game 1 for 212 and Immortal for first 5 of game 3 and then went to NB Particle Pearl to close out a 230.
Can''t complain about a 742.....been throwing well lately between the different houses.
On edit.....I''ve said this before and I will say it again. The balls Jason and family make are what make the difference!! Sure, anyone and everyone is saying the lanes are getting easy, but the carry still has to be there....and it is with VBP. That''s the biggest difference I''ve seen in anything I''ve thrown.

Interesting to note that the Pearls are where it's at for me right now. I am loving that Particle Pearl as well and really do foresee an honor score coming real soon with that ball. It's really does roll to sweet to expect nothing but from it!!

Well.....house shot or no house shot, I have to give the NB Particle Pearl...the NB Reactive Pearl and the Immortal Pearl props as that''s all I''ve really been throwing lately.
Last 2 weeks in Youth/Adult I''ve seen 700s as well as a 300 this past Sunday. Average is close to 219 but that''s more due to me not adjusting to the league and all the plastic....and a house I don''t bowl in.
In normal league over the last 6 weeks I am averaging almost 238, and that''s almost all NB Particle Pearl to be honest. It really is that good of a ball. Carry is there without a doubt!! Last 3 weeks have been 700s as well.
For those liking Visionary and thinking about a little Christmas present to themselves.......seriously think about this ball!!

I know I posted something about the New Breeds and why I love the moves one can make with the balls....last night was another example!!
THS....but someone bowled on the right lane....so left was consistent and right was already going. We had 5 guys playing a down and in shot for the most part and the right lane went fast. It was nice seeing a Granite Gargoyle and Centaur Pearl in the mix of balls too!!
Played game 1 and most of game 2 with the NB Particle Pearl. Played down and in on unused lanes and started a swing then to bellyhook on the other. Eventually played down and in on both.....but went right to the NB Reactive Pearl playing the same shot and it was a world of difference. Big 4 was all that kept me from shooting a 250+ game and my 6th 700 series.
Tellin ya guys, it's a very nice move from one ball to the next!!

i wanted to try something different, so called visionary had them hook me up with a new breed partical pearl, drilled it up label with pin up,took to the spinner for a touch of black magic, and all i can say is wow , first set with it was 219, 223 ,268 easy 710 with 3 opens, i cant wait to get used to this ball, for it is very smooth off the spot and the carry is unbelievable, more people need to be trying this ball, its a good one

Nice start Jeff!! Ball has a lot going for it for those that actually try it!! I would be surprised if someone had something bad to say about it.

Had my 4th 700 series (727) of the season this week throwing my trusty ole Burgundy Gryphon! Too bad this ball doesn't get the love it deserves. If anyone has one in the back of a closet who doesn't use it, let me know 14-15lb. Let's make a deal!!!

Betting after those first two games, your nose was up in the air....sniff..sniff...what's that I smell.....800??

Good set though!! What ended up happening in the last one?? That much change?? Been there and know sometimes it's that much of a change....and sometimes it's us, the bowler.

Last game loosened up speed went up. Left many ten pins first part of game. Moved feet 1 board right too late. Tried not to think about score but manager told me what I needed for 800. Maybe next week?

There is always that!!
I do find it funny that people are similar to ball players....not wanting to tell that person that he/she has a possible 800. Most bowlers know exactly what they have going. While they may not know what they need, they know it's there.
I remember my first 800 about 2 months ago....no one wanted to say anything. Come 8th frame, I knew I needed 4 strikes and a 7 count to shoot it head on.
Still.....great shooting....and there will be another.

Not that I have not praised the NB Particle Pearl enough, I was a 3-10 away from 6th 300 last night....end with a 298. I had thumb issues last night, which is a rarity. Got stuck on one, went Brook and struck. In the 12th I wasn''t as lucky.
Ended with a 745 though, which I can''t complain....couldn''t string ''em in game 3.

I just got a new gladiator solid the light blue and shot 226 266 and 243 first three games in league. they are wood lanes and u gotta play deep with a ball that hits in the backend. i played 8 to 10 to start and moved a bored left and about 3 right with my break point. i had just taken it outta the box drilled it and threw it in league. im interested in how it progresses.
-
Good bowling.
