heavier oil ball

I am looking for a heavier oil ball.  I am not sure i will hit too many floods.  My current MED-heavy ball is my widow.  It struggles on heavier (great on everything else).  Currently trying to use a 500 grit sanded hybrid dirty bomb on heavy(not likng it)

it is between Immortal solid and Centuar AMB particle.  This has been probably the one slot in my arsenal i have not been able to fill.  I have had bad luck with other particles.  

This ball will probably not get used much, because i really do not hit alot of heavey volumes of oil.  I am bowling in a sport shot league this year so I wanted to expand my arsenal.  I have most of the weaker and THS shots covered.  Actually most peop;e could throw anything on THS these days.

Black widow
Black widow pearl(getting drilled)
Angular one
Pulse
Amulet glow

I am a tweener speed is about 14.

Has anybody had experiences with both balls?  I am leaning a little more to the solid.

I have been wanting to try some Visionary stuff out (besides my amulet)

If you go with the Solid and are interested in a used 16lb let me know.  I was looking for the same thing and do not seem to match up with the Solid and/or my drill is bad.  I bought something else that fit the bill.  I would guess it has 15 games on it if that.

On your question I have read on the boards that a lot of people liked that AMB particle so hopefully those people will chime in.  I read reviews of the Solid and watched some vids and was impressed but like I said for me it did not work out.

A while back, I drilled up an AMB particle for a bowler who was a medium speed, low rev, low track bowler.  Previously, he wasn't able to get hardly any reaction out of his equipment...  had a Duece, Trifecta, Reloaded, etc.  They would just skate for him.  The AMB was just the opposite.. he couldn't keep the ball from rolling out.  Even after polishing it was still WAY stronger than anything else he owned.  

Unless you are going to see truely massive floods, or have a ton of speed and no revs, I would guess that the AMB might be too much ball.

I have a FMG that was at 1500 polished that I took down with a green scotch brite pad. 4.5x4.5 drilling.

Used it on a heavy medium and it reacted very well. Decent length with a very readable move. Very nice punch at the pins as well.

At 600 OOB and the right drilling, I can see it matching up well to heavier patterns.

I had the AMB Solid had it drilled strong, but it just wasn't a good ball in heavy oil. Changed surfaces several times but to no avail. Didn't try a different drill and traded it away. Recently picked up the Blue AMB Particle for genuine heavy oil. The ball flat out hooks in the heaviest of oil! Drilled it alot weaker than any other piece in my arsenal (pin above bridge, cg in palm, no wt. hole. Ball still flares a ton and cuts through the soupiest of lane conditions. Very impressed with the hit and carry as well. Has worked out great for me as my flood ball, and I would recommend it if you have enough oil.

By any chance is it possible to drill a granite gargoyle strong to be a heavy oil ball?  I would just like to know because the AMB particle seems to be too strong for a heavy shot, but the Granite at 320 grit seems like it can be made a heavy oil ball.

i use my morich awesome revs at 500 grit abralon for my heavier oil ball and i use my black widow at 1000 abralon so my awesome revs 500 and black widow 1000 is wut i use for my heavy oil stuff and it all depends on the layouts

Granite could be a heavier oil ball at 320 and strong layout no doubt.  I had one shot a 299 with it on a heavy-medium condition.  Great ball.

The Ogre Solid is perfect for you.  With your slower ball speed. you do not want something that flares a ton.  The rg is higher and the diff is lower than the other balls mentioned which means the Ogre is going to be more playable for you on heavier conditions.  The cover on the Ogre is strong enough for you that you should be able to use it in box finish.  The AMB is going to be way too strong and the AMB series and Frankie May will flare too much for you to be effective.

From where I sit, if you don't have some decent hand the OS will not recover on a lane condition that is somewhat even across the lane if a THS wet/dry OS is the choice.  With it's low differential I have seen it develop some hang on even lane conditions for those with an average hand.  I'm 325-350 tops.  

If you are using a BW on medium to medium heavy and having some success you must have some ball speed.  Ball speed measured where?
