Just curious which ball from Visionary would be their heavy oil ball? Or what is some of your personal favorites?

For me the Ogre Particle definitely deals with heavy oil, I actually haven''t even come across enough to challenge it yet and have bowled on sport shots not just house shots.  Mine is at 600 scotchbright over 320 wet/dry sandpaper (to expand the particles, it is very fuzzy), so set to really deal with a lot of oil.  Also my Ogre Solid seems to deal well with any oil I''ve seen.  Those are the heaviest oil balls I have from Visionary, sure others have ones in different lines than the Ogre ones which are equivalents.

Like bitbytebit, the Ogre Solid deals with almost any heavy oil I see, so much so I try to use it at 2000 grit and 4000 grit Abralon, when I can.

The Ogre Particle is a good candidate for both heavy oil and to smooth out severe wet/drys.

A lot of whether or not you can use any one ball for heavy oil depends on your ball speed.

Thanks for the input. I have been bowling more ABT stuff here in Milwaukee and can't seem to find anything that works that well in oil. I have been working on playing more direct and speed also. And would like to give Visionary a try too.

Since I have bowled ABT in Milw (Lee Jones) franchise.  All I will tell ya it's not the ball it's the flat patterns that the ABT division bowls on....(Lee has never wanted it easy.)  Then add to it the sprayers and it makes it even more difficult on a flat pattern. Look at some control balls and work with some coaches that can get you out the ball with forward roll and tighten up the front angle in the heads. It's the indian on flat patterns.  Most folks that respond on this forum are THB's that have no idea what you are bowling on JMO.

Wish you the best and my advice in Milw. ABT like Natl's is make your spares.

Ogre Particle is a great choice. Still on a flat pattern don't expect to cover a lot of boards.

Feedback above about not covering a lot of boards is spot on. I learned to bowl outside of house shots in Bay Division (Nor Cal)ABT years ago, before PBA ex leagues, named animal patterns designed to increase/challenge skill, etc.

For years this division never laid anything close to a house shot. When we would show up at Nationals, everyone thought the division was a bunch of baggers due to playing on these conditions, then walking into a house shot. This was years ago back in the Showboat days

I used to have have good results with a midnight scorcher back in the day
while many players of higher ability struggled trying to "find area". The key was traction thru the oil (getting the ball to hit), a straighter trajectory and I'll admit the the design of the ball did give me more room then most, though not a ton of room.

If you truly want a Visionary for this condition, try to find a discontinued Centaur AMB Particle. For super flat and long patterns this ball works extremely well and will offer a more room then many other balls. This ball can still be found on the internet.

That being said it will probably stay in your bag for every other condition as it truly is a speciality heavy oil ball

Correct Gonz...you got it.  I have an AMB Centaur Particle and it is  ball that I would always take to an ABT tourney.  Might give you a lil extra room.

Ogre Particle would be another you'd use for this type of condition.

BTW...Jr/jmattox the OP messaged me he has an Invasion so I suggest he already has a ball that is good for this condition....just has to get it laid out correctly/surface and work on his technique and how to play the lanes.

I agree an Invasion would get fantastic traction thru the soup!

Guys, some help, so far my heaviest oil ball would be my Infinite ONe at 1000 grit.  Have an apex obsession NIB planning to drill rev lev and finish at 800 or 1000.  How would the Ogre particle compare.

Thanks in advance.

Can't speak for the Ogre Particle, but will give my recommendation for the Burgundy Gryphon. Have been going to this ball first out of the bag for my second shift leagues and been having phenomenal success with it. Ball cuts the heavy oil shot with anything out there and the hitting power is unrivaled! No surprises with this one. Roll it true and watch the pins fly. Only problem with this ball is finding one- ball is out of production and used ones are hard to find. Occasionally show up on E-bay, but best bet is to find one on ballreviews from someone who doesn't see enough oil to use it. Solid 9.5 out of 10!
