Visionary Vs. Others
« on: July 31, 2007, 10:41:08 AM »
Hey guys I have not throwen a Visionary ball since the Burgendy Particle Gryphon and I was very impressed with it I had a hard time getting rid of it when the time came. My question is this.

How Does Visionary's equipment stand against the larger companies like Storm, Brunswice and Ebonite? Better or Worse? for Example does the Immortal Pearl compare to say a TNV or Shift or Total Inferno?

How Does VBP Stand against say MoRich or Lane1? I am MoRich Junkie but if they went down I would be with VBP fast as a flash. Do you think a Immortal Solid is as good as Cobalt Bomb or Awesome Hook?

Another good question, How does the mid perfermance line stand against others?
I know for one I would much rather have any of the three Ogres in my hand than anything from any of the other companies mid perfermance lines and I have never even touched an Ogre never seen one in real life for that matter!

Sorry for the long post but I got that in my head after reading and responding to the thread about AMF being underated. Thanks for the replies!

Visionary puts out a product that is every bit as good as any of the major manufacturers. I currently own all 3 Ogres, the Frankie May Gryphon, and a Slate Blue Gargoyle.

The Ogre solid and pearl are definitely as good as any of the best balls on the market.  The pearl gets thru the heads pretty easily, with a hard arcing (not snappy) and controllable back end.  The solid goes into a roll a bit earier, but still maintains the hard arcing back end as the pearl.  I haven't had a chance to throw my Ogre SS yet, but here alot of good things about it so far.

The FM Gryphon imo is very very similar to the Brunswick Zone asymmetrical line of balls, being very rolly with a high flare potential.  And the SBG is possibly the best urethane ball on the market.

From my experience with VBP over the last several months, I would give my recommendation to anyone who wanted to try out a Visionary ball.

I love all my Visionary bowling balls.  I have the AMB Cetaur Particle, Frankie May, Ogre Solid, Ogre Pearl, and Green/Blue Centaur.  I took the plunge a couple of months ago after talking with Jim and Jason Wonders.  I was a little concerned that Visionary cannot be used in the PBA, but I only bowl in the Pro-Ams anyway.  Both Jason and Jim have been very helpful in helping me decide what bowling balls to get and what layout to put on them.  Each ball is predictable, which enables me to read the lanes better and decide where to move or what ball to use.

I am very happy with Visionary.  What put them over the top for me was the great customer service they have.  Jason and Jim responded to all my emails and Betsy is wonderful to talk to.  Fine bowling balls and customer service is what set them apart.  That and not being a "ball of the month" company.  Each ball is made well and made to fill a hole in any arsenal.  No matter what your style is and the lane conditions are, there is a ball for you.

No bowling ball is good if it is drilled incorrectly.  Make sure you know your PAP and find a good ball driller that will work with you.  I hate the Hammer Black Widow, but my driller did not know my PAP and drilled it with the pin above and to the right of my ring finger.  I felt I had to throw it really slow to get any kind of reaction.  It was also unpredictable.  I realize now with my higher ball speed that I should have put the pin below the ring finger to get it into an earlier roll.

In short, you cannot go wrong with Visionary.  They have very durable bowling balls and great customer service.  If you have any questions, you can email Jason and Jim Wonders from the Visionary website and they will get back to you.

I have only 2 VBP balls, but I am very happy with them (FMG and SBG). These do not have to shy away from big manufacturers, in fact I was very impressed by the coverstock strength of my FMG and its overall power.

What I really like about the company "politically" is the fact that any ball I treid so far or have seen perform on the lane just does as it is advertised. No hype. These are reliable balls, of very good quality, and I'd recommend them any time.

I also echo the words that have been spoken. Visionary makes great equipment and with most of their stuff, you get what is advertised. If they market a ball as skid/flip, it's going to react that way. Their covers are the most durable that I've seen, especially since their balls are core and cover, no filler!!!

I really like their stuff, and just as with other balls, I've taken a liking to their asymmetrical stuff more. I am really enjoying the Visionary experience.
