how often?
« on: July 03, 2008, 08:35:33 AM »
For those of you who have been test staff for a while, or just been using Visionary for a while.  How often does Visionary come out with a new ball on average?  I know its not very often, which is a good thing to me.  I was just wondering how soon I could hope for a urethane ogre, if they make one that is.

Visionary had to stop making the AMB and Immortal line and the Ogre line replaced the Gargoyle line which had been in existence for many years, so they have some new balls in the works for this year.  If you dont count the AMBs and Immortals, Visionary has eight balls out right now (nine if you want to count the Particle Ogre).  They usually have about ten out.  We might be lucky to see a urethane Ogre out late this year or early next year.

I hope they do bring out one, I am going to be joining the test staff in the next week or two, and I wanted to be able to get a urethane while I am a member.  So have they already stopped making the immortals?  I was interesting in getting at least the pearl if not one of each of those.  If I do get an immortal how long will they still be good to use through USBC?

The Immortals and the AMBs have been discontinued - as in not being poured at the factory.  There is still a supply of them available at their warehouse but no telling how long that will last.  If you want an Immortal, now is the time to pick one up. I had a great second half last season with a Rico drilled Immortal Solid, so I will be picking up another one to stash away.

As far as I know, once a ball is on the Approved Ball List of USBC or the old ABC, it should be good to use as long as the ball lasts.

For me, very smooth and predictable, but I do track low with low revs.  I never tried another layout on it so I dont know how much of a stronger reaction it could have.

I have a Green G, but it is not drilled Rico.  I cant use it on the THS (too much length when I did try it twice) although it was great on a 2nd or 3rd shift tourney.

Visionary does not coem out with new balls very often - and I like this strategy. Since they also have a more limited number of current offerings, the Visionary balls are very complementary, with some very unique offerings like the Immortals (very good balls for high speed players), the B/G Centaur or the Slate blue Gargoyle (*sniff*).

Anyway, with the legal intervention on the high differential cores, I think there should come a new "high end" line in the enar future. The Gladiator core fills the medium range very well, and why should not come a new kind of AMB line with slightly tweaked end caps on the base core that keep this "new" core in legal limits for freshly produced balls?

A return of the symmetrical Gryphon core with new covers is IMHO also a sensible option.

I have figured out what I think the next ogre after the particle ogre should be...  the GLOgre!  yep, the urethane glow cover from the glow amulet, with the OGRE core... Except make it lime green, or bright orange, that will catch some eyes.  Well let me know what you guys think

The Gladiators are pretty darned expensive for medium range balls. I think the solid is for medium-heavy oil. The Pearl is for mediums.

I think these are considered premium priced balls, leastwise in the internet market. Since they go for $140 delivered, UNLESS pro shosp get some kind of discount, not too many of them are going to be selling them for $190 drilled.
These are equivalent in price structure to balls like the Twisted Fury.

Not sure about the name, but they need one of those neat eye catcher balls.  A solid hard urethane cover with the symetrical ogre core would make me think of the old Faball Urethane Equipment only with todays technology it would be more dynamic.  Bright wild color/s would be far out and way cool.  I think such a concept takes care of the slate blue replacement and makes for a great spare/cranker ball which VBP does need.

I think these balls are very eye catching, alot are bright neon colors. Before I got rid of the my ogre and immortal solids, I always was asked about the balls. Ive got Dc tour and a glow amulet that just yell look at me.

Just an FYI on urethane Vis. balls.....from my perspective.  I would not compare roll/hook/hitting power of the Glowing Amulet <urethane w/ Gargoyle core> to the Slate Blue Gargoyle.  Slate Blue to me is much more of a "normal" drier lane pearlized urethane.  Glowing Amulet more of a very dry lane/spare ball.  Glowing Amulet will not work at all on any carry down.  Slate will work somewhat.  Just my take.
