I've Found A New Home...(Visionary)
« on: November 08, 2006, 03:10:05 PM »
I've used lots of their equipment in the past, and have done fairly well with this company.
Scorcher, Blue Warlock, Green Gargoyle, Warlock DC, and the Crimson/Charcoal Executioners.

Investing in the Immortal series within the next few weeks, and will post videos short after.
I figure that their equipment will best match my game, and I'm sure they'll live up to their reputation of being a great, not so well known company.
I would just like to greet all of the other Visionary users!
I'll post back soon with my progress.
Thank You,

-=-Sean

Hi Kalmah, welcome.  The Visionary forum is not as populated as some of the others so it gets pretty quiet sometimes, but there are some good people here.

Out of the balls you listed, my favorite is the Blue Warlock and believe it or not, they still make the Green Gargoyle, a good, inexpensive ball for broken-down lane conditions.

Let us know what you think of the Immortals.

Visionary= The Best Kept Secret In Bowling.
I became a Test Staff Member a few years ago, and purchased the Crimson Ex. and the Scorcher. Great 1-2 punch for the 2 leagues I was in. Shot my first 600 series with those two. From there, moved on to the Green Gargoyle. Loved the backend reaction I had with that one.
All of the others followed, and it was a great decision starting out my youth bowling with Visionary. Very predictable equipment, and helped me learn the basics.
Looking forward to seeing how the Immortals react with my game. From what I've seen, they'll be a hit. Not sure why I decided to wander away from this company. I guess I just got caught up in the hype, just like a lot of people on this board.
I'm going back to what got me started, and I hope to further progress with what got me going.

2000 for me.

Call Betsy and see if it is still possible for you to renew your membership.  Might be able to save a few bucks that way.

Going through the closet last night before league, I found and old friend, Mr. Green Gargoyle staring me in the face after about a 2 year break, saying why not use me tongiht.   After much sucess the last few weeks with my New Standard from Lane Masters, I replaced the Supreme Justice Pearl with Greenie.   First game struggled with the New Standard, just rolling up to soon and if I got the ball to far right, see ya later, goofy wet/dry shot last night.   Well after making the move right after shooting 175 playing 20 out to 10, i pulled out Mr. Green started up 10 and low and behold this ball still hits the breakpoint like somebody kicked him in the "jimmy!"   shoot 232 second game.   Third game playing the same line a little more speed, front 7, to finish with 242.   Visionary, best kept secret in bowling is definitely and understatement, since this ball helped me win $420 last night.
If I could only bowl my weight, I still would not average 200.   But hey I still damm sexy!

Welcome

As said before there are good people in this forum.
I myslef have been a test staff member hmmm lets see
either 1999 or 2000.  The customer service is great.

Now I will warn you in advance, anytime you see me post
on here I will pretty much mention something about the Charcoal executioiner,
and how it was the best ball ever made... Like now lol

I am trying to find a replacement for it, but for now I have a case of them put up in the closet

Once again welcome, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Ok, now please don't flame me for this post because I'm only asking a question.

I've heard that Visionary balls are not sanctioned, therefor any honor scores thrown with them will not be honored.  I'd hate to have a 300 with one and be told 'sorry, with that ball your 300 doesn't count'.  I've always been intrigued with visionary balls and thought about trying one but this 'rumor' has kept me away from actually buying one.

True? False? I'm all ears.

StarGumbo,

Visionary is not PBA Sanctioned, however, they are approved equipment by the USBC.   As a result a 300 shot with Visionary will be approved by the USBC.

I guess I'm wondering more about older balls than newer ones.  If they weren't sanctioned a few years ago but are now, does the sanction apply only to the balls currently made, or all balls they've ever made.

StarGumbo

Visionary had always been approved for USBC, just not PBA.  So, unless you plan to go 'pro', no need to worry.  I shot my first every 300 with my G3 Gryphon last year, still love the ball.  By the way, it was 'approved' by USBC and after an initial problem of getting the wrong ring, USBC got me the right one.

Well then this is a rumor that goes around in some of the circles I bowl with.  I know of a few other people that won't even look at Visionary balls because they think they are not USBC sanctioned.  Thank you for dispelling this rumor, I've always thought Visionary had some great looking stuff and now I can actually check them out!

Like everything else, there are so many variables that I can only tell you how it works for me.  For anyone wondering what variables I am talking about - bowler style, type of lanes and condition of said lanes, oil patterns and length, types of oils, lane machine used, ball speed, rev rate, drill patterns, etc.

I find the Blue Warlock to still be very useable on my local THS league.  In fact, the last couple of weeks I have had to put it away because it was burning up too early.  Although tonight the house shot is supposed to change once again so we will see.  So overall, I would say it is still useable on a medium lane condition.  It can be sanded to handle a bit more oil, maybe medium-heavy, or polished for lighter conditions.

Sorry for the rambling, hope I answered your question.

Keep the White Dot.  Visionary doesnt have a plastic ball in their current lineup.  If all you will be bowling on are toasted lanes the Blue Slate Gargoyle would be a good choice.  Take a look at the Green-Blue Centaur and the Green Gargoyle and see if they would fit in with your style for those lanes.

www.visionarybowling.com  click on the Balls link on the top of the page, then any of the balls on the drop down picture menu.
