Medium-light visionary suggestions
« on: June 13, 2007, 05:55:33 AM »
I was wondering if any of you would know which balls would be great for medium to medium light condition.  I am bowling in an old house with worn out wood surface.  The shot breaks down fast here.  Thanks for your help...

Also, depending on your style and result desired, you could add the Green Centaur, Blue Sparkle Gryphon, and Slate Blue Gargoyle to what MC suggested.

I second the Green/Blue Centaur or the Slate Blue Gargoyle.  When I am on a shot where I can't find anything else, the Green/Blue always comes through.  That ball is smooth.  Mine flares less than an inch.

Depends on the look you are after.  What is your profile (ball speeed, rev rate).

Worn out wood with medium-light oil sounds like a lot of friction to me.  I'd go with the SBG.  Depending on your speed and revs, the others are likely to read too early.

Based on availability, go with the Blue/Green Centaur. The Slate Blue may be hard to find. Also, as mentioned, the SS Ogre will be available soon.

I use the SBG on old med-dry wood lanes alot.  The ball is absolutely amazing.  If I didn't know better, I would swear it was a resin ball.  It is easily the best dry lane ball I have ever owned.

I have heard alot of good things about the B/G Centaur also.  It is a very consistent ball, without alot of flare.

I would also think a Purple Ogre drilled very weak would be a good ball for those conditions.  I can use my Purple Ogre on drier condition with a strong layout, if I give it plenty of room.  I think it would react much better if I had layed it out weaker.

We can speculate all we want based on biased opinions from our own experiences.  But, until we get a profile, we really don't know.  Come on, Pop.  Helps us out here so we can help you in return.

Because urethane wants to roll early, I'd hesitate to suggest the Slate Blue Gargoyle on light oil and a worn out wood surface.  Depending on how much hand you have and your definition of dry, I'd go with the B/G Centaur.  I have both the SBG and the B/G Centaur.  The Green Gargoyle would probably work if you could find one and the new Ogre is supposed to be a replacement, but it's not out yet, so I'd hate to guess.
