Low Diff balls an somewhat high track
« on: December 08, 2006, 03:34:49 AM »
Looking for some help out there.  I recently drilled a Blue/Green Centaur with the pin above my bridge and cg kicked about 1/2 to the left of the midline, I am left handed.  PAP is 5 1/4 over, 7/8 up.  My problem with this ball is the same problem I have with other low diff. cores and urethane, the ball rolls over the thumb.  Another ball I had the same problem with ws a V2 Dry.  Are there any suggestons out there as far as pin placement or anything else?  Ironically, the one urethane ball I didn't have this problem iwth was the glowing amulet.

Had the same problem with similar drillings on lower flaring balls...
I now put the pin above, and about 1/2" to the right of ring finger...cg kicked out 1/2 to 3/4"...no more thumping!
good luck....

Thanks a lot for the input.  I will have to try kicking the cg out.  I will even try it on a new centaur, by far the best fry lane ball imo.

The best way to combat this, is to take the pin and swing it out closer to the PAP.  This will get the ball flaring earlier which gets the flare off the thumb faster.  Put the pin around 4 inches from the PAP and set the CG about 4 - 4 1/2 from the PAP.  Only swinging the CG out just makes the backend reaction rollier than flippy.  The pin is the key.
