I have rolled all 3.  Comparing apples to apples in OOB surface.

All use the DC core...not sure if they were played with to change densities...Jason could answer that.

Midnight Scorcher true flood ball....I liked to use this ball on heavy head oil with some backend to fresh backend.  Small head belly and basically kept it striaght up the boards.

Magenta DC Tour....great medium to med.- heavy ball definietly could swing this ball with great recovery not so for Midnight as carry would be effected or ball burnt out.

Purple Pearl DC Tour......great medium ball nice arcing reaction for me.  Generally would go around carry down with this ball for best carry.  It didn't like carry down but handled better than the Orange Pearl Warlock or NPT Scorcher that both for me seem to dislike carry down.

I think if had my druthers and you have enough oil in your center/s.  I'd drill the Magenta DC Tour.  Just a great all around ball if you have enough oil.  Definitely a step below the Midnight and can be bellied more.

NorCal,

Does your 2nd shift have decent oil in the heads and how deep is your comfort zone?  I see your relatively fast 18-20 mph...is that off your hand or at the pin deck?

My DC tour is a very big hooking ball, flare separation is huge. Its 3-3/4" x 5-3/4" if I remember right. I threw it on the spinner with resurrection after messing with the cover a few times. I like it best like that so far. My cousin said what the hell is that thing Ive never heard of it before it looks like a house ball.

Not to jump the thread Scott, but how did you like the Orange Warlock Pearl and what would you equate it to on today's market??

Thanks

Ball motion of the Orange to me was close to the Blue Sparkle Gryphon....also depended on pattern being bowled on.  It would handle small amounts of carry down.  Has the even reacting Warlock core roll to it.

I remember winning a tourney in the 90's with the Orange on a medium length flat condition.  I was the only one who could stay atraighter up the boards closer to the OB than just about everyone...just because of this ball.  I do think that the "graphite" designed core did hit very well on high flush shots...continuation was very good thru the deck.....kinda core technology before it's time.  Great ball to trip 4's.   As lane conditions used more and more oil the Orange was slighted because of ability to handle oil and amounts of carry down we see.

For me!
Orange = trip 4's
Char Ex = stone 8's

Scott,

There is alot of push down. That speed is at the pin deck. Im more speed dominate but learning to tweak my speed more and more to match my rev rate. Was getting alittle deeper then ive been use to with the Scorcher last night.

Would the job get done with the immortals? I have both and they are plugged ready to go.

Thanks
Matt

Matt,

I think with your ball speed you'd match up pretty good with most of the more hooking equipment that Visionary puts out.  I tried a Solid and laid it out wrong and didn't match up well.  My ball speed in much lower than yours.....17 off my hand 14.5-15 max at the deck.

I haven't thrown the Purple pearl, but do currently throw both the Magenta DC Tour and the Midnight Scorcher. Like stated earlier, the Midnight Scorcher is a true flood ball....but it still hits very strong for me. The DC Tour, is a VERY strong ball. It has a lot of movement on the backend, while not losing its mid-lane strength.

PS...I will also chime in on the Immortal Pearl, and say that it might be what you're looking for on a 2nd shift league. My Immortal Pearl is very good even on carrydown, while still being able to actually get past the dry with ease. With your higher ball speed, you might fare better with drilling the Immortal Solid, but I haven't thrown it, so that's speculation.
