Mixed Breed Info
« on: September 08, 2011, 04:04:23 AM »
Just received the email on the Mixed Breed:

RG:  2.54

Diff:  .052

Coverstock:  Xiphos II

Core:  Mix of Serpentine and Mohawk (Gives ball the midlane control of the Spartan with backend of the New Breeds)

The ball starts shipping on September 12th.

I am really excited about this release because it sounds like it will be pretty similar to the Frankie May.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I think there maybe some similarities.  At OOB 1000ab I doubt I could use on all but the heavy type conditions.

I am figuring on a longer pin and low TW for the one I get.  Probably order next week...in truth don't need it for any house conditions that I see.  Orange Warlock and some other medium-dry balls are enough strength.

I like the looks of this ball and the specs. This is from VBP's Facebook page.
Visionary Bowling Products
By combining the Mohawk and Serpentine cores, along with the Xiphos II coverstock, this ball is a mixture of epic proportions. The combination of core and cover give the Mixed Breed the same aggressive midlane roll as the Spartan, along with the powerful backends found in the New Breeds.
The Mixed Breed has a strong asymmetric core design, boasting an intermediate differential of .015" and a total differential of .052". This allows the ball to not only get into an early roll, but provide a strong breakpoint with tremendous continuation.
Like it's predecessor, the Xiphos II coverstock keeps oil absorption to a minimum, allowing the bowler to use the ball for years without having to extract or remove oil from the coverstock. Maintenance on this cover is very simple, with an occasional cleaning and lightly scuffing the ball with 1,000 abralon to keep the surface fresh.

The core looks like a ""modernized" 2001 Blue Hammer core.  The RG and diff are even similar...

On the comparison of the core.  Here is a look at the 2001 Blue Hammer .  Numbers are close but the cores seem to be different to me.  ONLY Jason can really comment and make comments that are reliable.

The info. that is available from VBP said the core was a fusion of the Spartan and New Breed cores which made the core less taller.

    Jason?
