My Gladiator..... is here!
« on: March 11, 2008, 01:07:06 AM »
Anyone else get their order placed for the new ball?  Betsy sent my tracking number yesterday and the delivery date is supposed to be tomorrow.

UPDATE:

The balls arrived just a few minutes ago.  Here's a few quick pics of the Gladiator I took with the phone.

Scott,

How are you planning on drilling it and will you dare throw it at Village?

I'll work with Rob probably like I had my Char Ex drilled.  Pin lil up and right of ring <4" pin to PAP> CG stacked below.  Pretty strong layout for heavier mediums.  Probably wind up taking cover to 2000 abralon but will try it OOB first.

Village....ugh tracked up ball city.

I used a DT Solid Black Vendetta at Village last week for 725 and I love that ball but since it's not a new piece Village can't hurt it to bad. Can't use the Glad at BAV not enough oil.....lucky to use OP there with next ball the SS and the ole Scorcher NPT rolls out there burned up...that's how freakin' dry it is at BAV.  Look for some more teams to leave there for Village/Dream.
Prairie would have enough oil to use Glad.

Hmmmm Vis got with the program???  Figured it would be 1000 matte like most of the Big V's stuff.  Good to hear....I'll leave it alone and see how it compares to a Cell.

i have 2 coming in tomorrow I am gonna drill one with pin low and one with pin high. prolly 4.5 from pap on both, with cg about 4'' from pap.

this is one of my favorite layouts next to the RICO ,I have it on most of my VBP stuff.

The 4.5 x 4 also works well for me.  That's how my Ogre Solid and Pearl were drilled.  I will probably throw something similar on this one.  First of all I'm going to go back through some old pics and see if I can find a pic of my Charcoal Executioner and see how it was drilled.

I am debating on ordering a Gladiator, I just don't want it to overlap my Ogre.

Do you guys think that the Gladiator will overlap with the Ogre, Frankie May or even Immortal Solid? I know it may be tough to tell since no one has really thrown it yet. Any info is appreciated.

Ryan,

I had an Ogre and Ogre Pearl when I was throwing 16 lb. equipment.  I dropped down to 15 several months back and am finally used to it enough to order new equipment (I've been throwing some used and cheap 15lb stuff to make sure I'd like the change).

When ordering my new 15lb Visionary stuff I actually thought the same thing about the Ogre and Gladiator overlapping.  Therefore, I decided to just try out the Gladiator.  However, I did pick up an Immortal Solid to be my heavy oil ball.  I also picked up a Green/Blue Centaur since I really liked the reaction I got from the 16lb. one I had before.  I didn't get an Ogre Pearl because I have a NIB Vapor Zone that I plan on drilling up, and I thought that would overlap as well.

So my new arsenal will be set up like this.  I believe it will handle anything and everything I will see.

Immortal Solid
Gladiator Solid
Vapor Zone
Green/Blue Centaur
Columbia Jazz

Don't think that the Gladiator will overlap the Ogre Solid..

Gladiator Diff .044  Low RG 2.51

Ogre Solid Diff .029  Low RG 2.59

This is the way I see the Gladiator line vs. the Ogre line.  Differential

My Ogre Solid on an even pattern at times could/would develop some hang...not enough to bring it back....misses right with it on even/flatter conditions would leave ugly washouts, etc.  Too condition specfic but great on heavier medium house walls with good head oil.  Glad I believe will be like the Ex and give you a lil more motor and not hang as much on even conditions.

On mine, I want to keep the flare lines as tight or close togther as possible.  I seem to have better luck with equipment that rolls that way.

In my video for the Gladiator, i plan to compare the Ogre Solid to the Gladiator...same layout 4 or 4.5 x 3

Now i think they should both be at 2000 for a fair comparison of the two...600 is a lot of surface!  Anyone have thoughts on that?
