My initial views of Visionary!
« on: June 14, 2010, 12:24:06 PM »
I haven't used Visionary in a while and I've drilled several in the past week or two. I like a smoother reaction down lane and so far the Ogre Particle has insane hook, not skid/flip, but a strong arc at the breakpoint! During our 15 minutes of practice at a SASBA tournament I used the Gladiator solid, Gladiator pearl, Ogre Particle, and Ogre pearl all just to test the reaction and see what I had the best look with. I also used a pin up New Breed solid in the mix as well. I used everything but the Ogre's first and I thought I'd see how the OPart would react. I rolled it a similar line that I used the others with and was amazed when the OPart crossed over brooklyn and I must have had a Baby Bob look on my face cause of the reaction from the others on my pair. Needless to say that I had to move five boards left of where I had a decent look with the others and I knew that I didn't have enough volume of oil for the OPart. I rolled the Ogre pearl, which is drilled with a similar layout as the Ogre Part. and it rolls really smooth and easy through the heads and made a strong arc move at the breakpoint. I might add that from the advise from Jason, he recommended a pin down drilling on these and most of my Visionary balls for the fact that I really like the smoother down lane reaction. I do have the New Breed solid pin up and it's has a lot stronger move at the break. I used both Gladiator's yesterday and averaged just over 225 for the qualifying and I left a couple splits, but had a great reaction all day. Aside from a couple 9 pins and fast 8's, I had a good look all day and very impressed with my initial reaction and first tournament with Visionary. I might add that a guy was on my pair that also used a Gladiator solid. He had a Mission out in practice and I was using my Gladiator solid and pearl, so he used his Gladiator solid and told me that he used it his last game of Saturday qualifying and shot 258 so he wanted to at least try it. Jason and Betsy have been super nice with phone calls and emails, it shows their amazing customer service and that they want to be there for their bowlers! Just my $.02, Bruce

Good bowling, too, Bruce. Keep it up.
Vis makes some great stuff and versatile too.

Use a higher pin on the Glad Pearl and it'll start to hook and flip.

I can't decide if layout is really much of a factor on my Vis balls as I've bowled great with every one,pin up or down.the pin downs are smooth but the pin up one are smooth and still angular.I've been leaning twoards pin up.

Prefer pin up but I agree with 6pack on the lane conditions I see on a regular basis ball motion with pin up Vis. works better for me.

The paragraph is your friend batbowler.

Great to hear your experiences.

I guess the sad thing is I can't decide which ball and layout I like the most! On our house shot the Gladiator Pearl is too strong when it reads friction, but on the Kegel "Highway to Hell" pattern last week I shot 882 for four games on our doubles scratch league. It's drilled stacked leverage and the solid is 45deg pin below my ring finger. I'm excited and going to drill the New Breed Particle Pearl today, pin in ring finger with cg kicked out slightly. I didn't know how to judge the strength of the coverstocks and was surprised at how strong even the Ogre Pearl is!

Bruce,

The Glad Pearl is very adjustable, with longer or shorter pins and the coverstock takes to sanding and re-polishign like a champ.

My pin in ring finger is also strong, esp at the backend. I had pin under and it was smooth and even.

Ogre Pearl, even with the small amount of flare and the high RG core, is/requires true medium oil, unless you're highly speed dominant.
