New ball.
« on: February 24, 2010, 12:03:11 PM »
Im going to be replacing my dimension here soon. What Visioanry balls would compare to the Dimension? Looking for the same type of a ball. Heavy Oil solid. I have thrown the Ogre particle and didnt care for that to much. Thanks for the help.

The Gladiator Solid would work well.  Glad is definitely that benchmark type of ball.  OOB should give you a good idea at what the lane is giving you and a good choice in replacing the Dimension.

New Breed Solid is a fine ball, and the colors are way different too.

Either Gladiator solid or New Breed solid like they say.

I went with the New Breed solid myself, liked the stronger core.

I use a 2000 grit gravity shift as my bench mark ball, so im not looking for a bench mark ball. So would the NBS be a better choice to fit above as more heavy oil ball?

Not sure on how on how much outside of Visionary works to be honest, but Gladiator is going to be a solid medium to light heavy oil for most people whereas the New Breed will be more light heavy to heavier oil.

Depending on how much hand you have, those might just be fine.  Visionary still has other balls that will more than handle oil, ie Immortal Solid, Burgundy Gryphon, Blue Centaur Particle, and Blue Warlock.  All are older and discontinued, but depending on weight might still be available.

I have good hand but I tend to get to speed dominant. When I bowl on a heavier pattern I need something that will start up. Which for me is my dimension, but im gettin tired of it. I have had it the longest so Im going to replace that first. I have had good success with an ogre SS so I wanted to try another visionary ball hence the question.

Ogre Particle then...same core and possibly a proven cover for VBP if not a modified version of it.  (read somewhere may be similar to Granite's cover)

I think it was the same cover as the Granite, but he did mention that he's thrown it and didn't care for it too much.

I would think that with the taller core of the NB Solid, might not be what you want, but.....perhaps the Particle Pearl taken down to 1000 might be, even though the core is the same.  The Particle Pearl was designed to react like a particle when taken down that low.

normy,

If you don't like particle balls. I'd be looking at an FMG if you can find one or an AMB Solid Centaur. Depending on if you use 15's Josh has a AMB Solid Centaur (which is grandfathered by USBC as it's over the differential rule now). The React-a-tack cover is a strong and changeable cover. http://cgi.ebay.com/15-Centaur-AMB-Solid-Visionary-Bowling-Ball-NIB-1st_W0QQitemZ260519990841QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBowling?hash=item3ca8339639

If you get an AMB be careful on layout. You haven't put your stats. up so we are only going on some assumptions. If you get the AMB Solid it would be good if you knew a driller with a DeTerminator to spin it to find the PSA. The AMB Bronze that I spun had the PSA marker 1/2" off. Fine tuning the layout would make the PSA marker important IMO.

You can ask charlest about the his opinion of the AMB Solid as I know he has one.

I appreciate all the help guys. My PAP is 4" by 7/8" up. I do throw 15's I will take a look at those balls that you mentioned. My friend has the span as me and he has a particle ogre. I threw it just one night and didnt like the reaction that I recieved by it. I may try and throw it a coupla more times and see if maybe it was just me that night. Thanks again.
