New Breed core?
« on: May 10, 2014, 01:36:06 PM »
I have a New Breed solid that is drilled with the pin above the bridge and cg just right of grip center. I put it on a DeTerminator and was thinking the mb would be around the thumb hole, wrong. I spun it several times and it's on the opposite side of the thumb hole on the other side of the ball. I shifted it to spin it on the left side, with pin left of the center of DeTerminator and it spun up just left of thumb hole. Is this core a z spin core? Thanks, Bruce

Yes, the New Breeds and Mixed Breeds are Z-spin cores.

Thanks for the reply MI 2 AZ! I thought I remember somebody saying that! That explains why I haven't gotten the reaction I was thinking I would.

I thought the Mix Breeds were the start of the Z-spin balls Visionary was making??

Sorry Bruce as I mentioned that the New Breed wasn't that I knew of.

I was really shocked to see how a New Breed spun up on the DeTerminator and it explains a lot of why I had trouble with all the New Breeds I drilled!

I know I emailed Visionary about which balls were Z-spin, but I cannot find the reply.  From another BR member who has access to a DeTerminator (I don't), he said that the Gladiator and Spartan lines were also z-spins.  After I got that message, I had a Gladiator and a Spartan plugged and redrilled with better success than the original layouts had, so I believe that they were.

My same experience and the main reason I stopped using VBP.

My driller has a DeTerminator and I believe I have had pics on these threads of where the PSA was on some of my VBP balls.

If, I remember correctly Jason W. had told me in an e-mail that VBP will not produce anymore z-spinners.

Hey Scott,
I was thinking it was you that posted about the Z spin cores! It makes sense with the way the ball spins up!

Correct Bruce.  Performance for me was poor and I didn't understand why (until the z-spinner issue was explained) as the older VBP balls were great for me.  In fact, I still use my old B/G Centaur as a low volume light oil ball on house shots to this day.

here is a before and after adding a hole on my MB Solid

I THOUGHT I understood the Z spin on this ball, but apparently I did not.  Mo Pinel got me straightened around and the Pearl and the Crossover were much better.  That said even after the weight hole, the solid never worked well for me.

In a nutshell, if your using the DA method.

Use the " V " just as you would a normal MB mark

use longer pin to paps 5 - 5 1/2
use drill angles of 0 - 30.
use Val Angles of 50-70ish

Here is my Crossover using Jason's Strong layout ( the top of the weight hole is on my pap)
which roughly would be 20 x 5 1/2 x 55/60  (just guessing.)
