All,
Layout: 4 Pin to PAP, drill angle=50, val angle=50.
I only got to throw this ball a few times in practice at a tournament this weekend. The pattern was the same as I threw the NBP on but the difference between balls was night and day. The layout on this ball proved to be too strong for the condition with OOB finish.
I was able to get the ball to the pocket a couple shots and it hit like a freight train too! I had deer in the headlights after I saw the ball destroy the rack the way it did.
I drilled this ball to combat med-heavy to heavy oil conditions. I was surpised to see how much stronger this ball was than the Gladiator Solid I have drilled at 3 3/8 Pin to PAP, drill angle=45, val angle=45. It read the lane sooner an appeared to be more continuous across the whole pattern even though it read about 5 feet sooner. I would've expected it to rollout because of the early read but it kept going which means the ball didn't seem to flare as fast out of the oil which allowed for it to use more of its flare potential as it carried further down the lane (hence the continuation through the whole lane).
I'm not sure I'll be able to throw this anywhere around here, unless in a tournament or if I dial up the cover to 2000 or 4000 and possibly polish it, but then that would defeat the purpose of the ball.
If I get a chance, I'll try to have the center put down the US OPEN pattern or one of the longer PBA patterns and see how the ball deals with that condition, maybe the 2008 National Pattern.
More to come.....
