Post by: getuaload on December 10, 2009, 10:48:39 PM

Hmmmmm interesting but I don't see anything new that's been approved by the USBC on it's approved list.

Second paragraph says it all.

Still not on the approved list so I assume it will be approved before they ship.  I also assume with the way the USBC is these days it's approved but the USBC just can't update their list.

Coverstock interests me.

Yea ,i am interested in the cover also. Jason just responded to my inquiry and my order is being placed.

This could be a great ball for late shifts / maybe even replace the Ogre Pearl.

I don't remember if he said it was already USBS approved or not.  But Thomas, if you are test staff.....can't see why you wouldn't be able to get one....no??

I don't know if I would say this would replace the Ogre Pearl.  I think the resounding sentiment was that the ball was a lot stronger than what people thought it would be.

I think this would fit under the Ogre Pearl but above the Blue/Green in terms of lane use.

Gary, I am thinking along your lines as well, somewhere under the Ogre Pearl and more controlable than the SS. Something that I could use in the third game most of the time.

My thinking.  Ogre Pearl smaller differential stronger cover.  Gladiator LE stronger differential but smooth movement weaker cover.

I was just telling my teammate JS last night I would love to have a ball to fit under the Gladiator pearl in the Gladiator line up.

I am not hesitating to buy this ball, I can care less if it's USBC approved or not.

I think you nailed it Scott. I emailed Jason and he suggested that it might pick up the roll a little sooner than the Ogre Pearl, but a little milder on the backend. Total hook may be similar but with a different hook shape.

I'd believe at first yes.  But, to sell 1000 they would open it up to the public.

Jason would have to comment to know for sure Jeff.

Heh I patched a call into Visionary last night not truly knowing the time zone difference and whomever answered the phone seemed to be caught off guard.

Oh well I guess I'll have to call back on Monday.

Hello everyone,

The Gladiator LE is USBC approved, and starts shipping to pro shops, distributors and test staff members starting Monday.  This ball was originally intended for an international distributor of ours who wanted something like the Gladiator Pearl, but a little milder so that it could be used on a little drier conditions.  After discussing options with them, we blended a few reactive materials to create the desired reaction, and ordered enough materials to fill their order.  Unfortunately, their bowling market took a major hit recently and the order was cancelled, so we are releasing this ball to everyone.

Since we have ordered enough material to pour 1,000 balls and had only intended for it to be an international release, we have decided to individually number these balls to 1,000 and just release it as a limited edition.

As is the case with all of our current line balls, the only people who can purchase directly from us are pro shops, distributors and test staff members.  It will not be sold directly to individuals through us.

Also, for those of you who were wondering, we are in the middle of creating a new site, which hopefully will go live sometime this week.  All of the information on the Gladiator LE as well as the New Breed Solid will be on this site.  As is the case with all sites, there may need to be adjustments over the first few weeks, so if anyone viewing the site runs into any mistakes or thinks we are lacking something, please feel free to contact me at vbpadvertising@aol.com.

Thanks again,
Jason Wonders

More than likely what I will do which I should have many many years ago.

Join the test staff and then purchase from VBP directly.

Joining the test staff is a great thing, you can get new releases the same time the shops can & you get special prices. Each year after you join you can renew your membership for a very small fee.

I highly recommend if you are thinking about joining dont wait. I believe they only accept 5000 members per year and they might fill out the spots.

As for the test staff program, I thought it was limited to 5000 members total.  If you do decide to join it, consider one of the options with the free shipping.  With the price of shipping, it's a great deal, especially if you order more than a few balls per year you will save the cost of renewal just in shipping charges.

Don't let the pro shop fool you into thinking they can't get the ball.  I believe they can call VBP directly and order the ball!!

As others have said....test staff has some advantages!!  If you are in good with a pro shop, it's probably better for you to join and order and get the savings.  If pro shop charges you their prices if they order, there's a big difference!!

Yes any pro shop can call Visionary and order.  If they choose not to that is your pro shops decision.  I am sure Visionary will try and work with any real pro shop business.  By real, I mean one that is brick and mortar.  Heck in the past they even dealt with some none brick and mortar folks.

BTW...one issue that many forget here...pro shops get a $10 driller rebate on lower cost Vis. balls and $15 on higher end Vis. balls.  Good deal for the pro shop also.  A rebate form is sent to all test staff members with the ball and can be filled out and mailed back to Visionary or faxed to Betsy.  My pro driller appreciates it.

Like to see it in reality.

Not sure this is the ball for drier moving in for me.  Probably going to replace the drier moving in ball as an SS Ogre.  I miss the one I had.

I'm only giving the distributor a few days before I cancel to be honest.  I have other financial responsibilities and too much equipment to pursue a new ball right now.  I figured it would be the best logical step down from the Gladiator pearl but I can use my #1 Awakening or an incoming Crimson Executioner in this same role.

I'll update if I actually obtain one or not.
