New Releases- When???
« on: October 17, 2007, 08:56:37 PM »
Intensly curious about the Ogre Pearl Particle and where it will fit in the line up. I'm hoping between the O.P. and O.S. That would likely solve the tweener hell that I'm wollowing in with the O.S. These Ogre's are so good they leave me wanting more.

I guess I missed that bit about a new Ogre Pearl Particle.

I thought Jason had originally said that that the Ogre Black/Purple Pearl's reaction was so close to the reaciton of a particle pearl that they weren't going to make one???

Charlest, I'm in the same boat as you. I also thought that they weren't making a particle pearl version. I understand that there is a particle solid version being made, but no particle pearl.

If they add the particle solid, that will give us a nice 4 ball set up with Ogres alone.

Ogre Particle
Ogre Solid
Ogre Pearl
Ogre SS

Could be my bad I thought I read a thread here that the next Ogre release would be a particle pearl due to popular demand through requests for one.

Yep, It was in the Q&A Part 2 in Jasons reply to walter 1st page. I also see the mentioning of a solid particle also in the same thread. Must still be TOP Secert!!!

Jason said:

This question has been posed many times, and eventually we will have a particle pearl that we release. To this point, I have still not found a particle pearl cover, that I could make react differently than a solid with the right surface adjustment. It's interesting really, because a lot of bowlers are upset with the fact that balls die off quicker when they have particle or oil absorbing covers, yet they still want manufacturers to make them.

pretty much what Jason told me in regards to a PP cover. Called and placed an order yesterday, Betsy told me the next release would most likely be the end of Nov, providing nothing upsets the apple cart. She would not address the release in terms of what might be coming out.

FYI..these are ONLY my opinion's but this is why I don't think Visionary has come out with a particle pearl or why it is taking some time.

Anybody remember or still use a Purple Ice Executioner?  For those that have this ball for the majority of us was a dog.  Not all but I'd say more negative than positive results.  I could not find a condition that it shined on and I bowl many tourney's tough flat conditions, etc.

Here's the description verbatim from Vis. website on the Purple Ice "This Executioner was designed to combat the toughest of lane conditions. This light load particle pearl rolls like an old urethane on steroids, with the hit and carry of a strong reactive.

This why I think the Vis. boys are waiting to perfect a particle pearl cover of course this is ONLY conjecture on my part but it's a good guess.

BTW....I gave mine to a rev challenged fluffer and he can use it down and in on a heavy medium condition and does very well with it..........so it might possibly fit the bill for a few of these type of bowlers.

The Purple Ice like the Granite has that granular fuzzy feel to it.  Maybe the boys are working on a particle pearl more mainstream?

Scott,

Was the Purple Ice a particle pearl urethane, like the Scorcher was a particle solid urethane?
Could that have been the "problem" with the Purple Ice?

Good question.  I just went back through all my old Visionary catalogs (back to 2001) and they never say what the coverstock is other than 'particle / pearl'. Even the flyer/drill sheet says only that.  Guess this is something that should be asked in the Q&A topic.

"Light load particle pearl" is what it says on Visionary's website and the paper info. included with the ball in box.

BUT, I wouldn't call it a pearl in todays parlance..................is why I said todays mainstream.

I am fairly certain the Ice Executioner is a Reactive Based Particle.  According to step 4 finishes from Visionary's Website It says polishing it up will make it have more length and snap like a reactive where as polishing a urethane would give more length and less overall backend snap.  So Polishing up the Scorcher would make the ball became a unique controlled urethane.  I have both, picked up an PIE within the last year it is a strange ball, I find that when it gets grainy it starts to sail more in the oil and I honestly could never figure the ball out except that less hand with more of a roll would result in a much better ball.  It remains in the closit cool looking ball though kind of looks like one is looking at a surface of a dark deep purple planet.

Darkman,

just saw this description of the Purple Ice by Visionary:
"Light load particle pearl ball with a blend base."
This is on the discontinued balls webpage:
http://www.visionarybowling.com/ItemsForSale/shopcartindex.html

The "blend" base seems to indicate that the base is a blend of urethane and resin??? That is usually what people mean when they say "blend" about a base.

I posted it in the Q&A thread.

Scott,

Honestly, I don't think so. You wrote:
"This light load particle pearl rolls like an old urethane on steroids, with the hit and carry of a strong reactive."

Then I said it might be a pearl urethane base like the Scorcher was/had a solid urethane base.

Then I think darkman said it was "Reactive Based Particle".

Then I found that Visionary statement "blend base".

Then I asked Jason ....

It's all of academic or theoretical interest to me, as I never had one and wouldn't get one now. I sort of feel I can make a control ball via drill and surface mods, for the most part. But I am interested in what it ,if only to see the thinking behind its design.
