Title: New used stuff for son
Post by: gsback on January 03, 2014, 06:23:30 AM
My son has started back in bowling this year.  He's a Freshman and is bowling with the High School Club team and is actually loving it.

I feel because I see what he could be if I hadn't taken him out of the bowling scene.  It's been 4-5 years since he threw really and it showed right off, but he's making it with some recent 2 game sets of 401 and 443.

He throwing an odd name reactive ball...don't even know what the ball is.  But he's got a Gryphon G3 and a Scorcher NPT that's a little more shined.

For Christmas I picked up 2 used balls from Carlos and am hoping they will be ready to be drilled this weekend.  He'll be throwing the newer Warlock and a Purple Ogre.  Personally, with the lanes the team is throwing on, I think those 2 new balls and a G3 will be an excellent 3 ball combo.  The NPT really has made for a great spare ball and drier lane ball.

So here's to a better 2014 for him now that I'll have him throwing all Visionary!!   8)

Good to hear that he is enjoying bowling again and having some success.  This sport needs more younger bowlers.

The Warlock XV is a hybrid and the Purple Ogre and G3 are pearls so you may want to be on the lookout for a solid.  I am partial to the Blue Warlock or Blue Sparkle Gryphon as good benchmark solids.

The NPT was like a stronger version of the old Faball Blue Hammer from what others had posted about it.  Although I had an NPT, I never had a Blue Hammer so I could not compare them.

Thanks Gary.  He is loving it and actually is wanting to go bowling now more often.  It used to be a task to get him to want to hit the lanes...now he's wanting to bowl in between practices and matches.  And it's been fun helping the coaches out and taking a part in the matches and all.

For the matches he's on, and knowing the balls as they are, I do feel he'll be fine with the 3 balls.  The Warlock will more than handle most of the heavier oil he'll see for High School bowling.  And he's gotten better at moving right and playing down and in versus the swing or belly hook most of the kids play.

Last night they practiced after league and the balls were too snug on the thumb.  Got the Ogre worked out at least and he threw that all night and had no problems.  Ball is drilled with pin above bridge so he's getting length out of the ball, which is good.  If it were too much, then he's still got the G3.

Haven't seen how the Warlock works yet, but I need to get that thumb take care of as well next.
