Gryphon Particle or Fuel?
« on: July 09, 2003, 11:48:48 PM »
I’m trying to complete my six ball arsenal; which consists of a Vendetta, Vendetta Particle, Cure and Top Fuel. I’m debating over getting the Roto Grip Fuel or the Visionary Burgundy Gryphon Particle, to handle my Med-Heavy/Heavy and Sport conditions. I’m a Tweener, throw around 15.5mph consistently and med-low revs.

Does anybody have both the Gryphon Particle and Fuel? Which one do you think handle’s those patterns better?

Thanks,
Josh

Josh, no offense, but 3 out of 4 of those balls are all med-heavy to heavy, why on earth are looking for another heavier pattern ball?

Sorry, just confused!?

Jeff,

Well, my Cure is drilled pin above ring (don’t want to plug it again), and just goes way too long on a heavy shot. I have changed the surface numerous times, and it still won’t play anything less then a med. But i'm very happy with the Cure the way it is now. My Vendetta Particle is drilled pin under ring, cg kicked out 1” under ring. The Vendetta Particle just doesn’t really match up that well to me. It just rolls and rolls, never really grabbing. I have changed the surface anywhere from 1000-320 and it still just doesn’t roll right for me. When it does “magically” roll right, it hits so weak, it’s not funny. The Top Fuel for me is just a great med carrydown ball. It’s the one ball I do have that I wouldn’t touch the surface; I just like it too much the way it is!

The house that I bowl at lays down the ABC tournament pattern for Youth/Adult to practice on. Also, they have been laying down some other tournament patterns for practice.

Most of these patterns are very long and heavy; I just don’t feel I have a ball to conquer these types of patterns.

Thanks,
Josh

The Gryphon particle is a very nice longer oil ball and good for tournament shots.

It has very consistant midlane roll so it makes it easier to swing the ball and go deeper if you can. Very nice ball shined as well.

Just my input

There is some issue in your statements. The ABC shot for the last few years is quite short at best and is somewhat sparse for oil. For longer patterns either of the two choices would be appropriate depending on drill pattern. For your slow speed I would probably say the Gryphon. Where on the lane are you playing when they stuff the ABC shot out?
