Ogre cover choices...Hmmm.......
« on: February 24, 2010, 04:13:45 AM »
I have the SS and the Blurple both polished.I like the SS but Love the Blurple.I've had the Blurple fiished in both a polished and sanded finish and liked it both ways so I'm on the hunt for another. just looking for some general opinions here but should I get another Blurple and adjust the cover or should I just go for a solid?

Not sure if you'd like the solid.
I like it at 2000 or 4000 matte with the pin above the ring finger, depending on how much oil there is.

When I polished it (over several different base grits), it did get flippier. I didn't like it - too hard to control. Polished, I think I'd want the pin at or under the level of the bridge and/or with the CG kicked out, depending on your ball speed (as per usual).

I think the Pumpkin is a wonderful ball.

I used the wrong drillings on my original Blurple. If I didn't have so many balls I'd get a new one and put the pin over the ring finger and leave it polished. (I had no idea just how strong that cover was).

If you want earlier hook go with the solid. If you want a different look go with the urethane and give it a little surface.

The house I bowl in has been put down less and less conditioner, and in a spotty fashion to go with it. Every ones particle and reactive equipment is checking early and moving violently off the dry.  The pro shop has one of those new self contained water sanding and polishing machines.  I used it to take my Ogre U down to 1000 abralon surface.  Bingo!  223, 269, 236.  Smooth and controlled all night long.

I picked up an Ogre particle when I was looking for a solid.really wanted a solid but I couldn't pass up the deal on the particle.drilled pin up and brought the cover up to 2000AB and it's not a bad ball at all.not as strong as I thought it would be.the cover is plenty strong sure but I think the core helps the OP from rolling out some.the cover got "fuzzy" on me the first time I used it but returned back to smooth after I cleaned it,funny ball. I would still like to find an orange ogre and knock the cover back to original on the particle.I seem to match up very good with this ogre line except for the urethane, still like my black hammer better.

six pack,

You mentioned that you had the Blurple and that you had it polished and sanded and liked both.  So....if you get another Blurple, which surface would you go with??  Make a difference in getting that or the Pumpkin!!

I had the SS but the drill I put on it isn't something I would normally do and sold it rather quickly.  Never had the Pumpkin, though hear from everyone that head oil is a must.

I would go for the Blurple and bring the cover down since you already know the reaction and have liked it!!

Had the front 5 in game 2, but got little air in my chest and started to spray the lane.  269
Had the front 7 in game 3, put on the neck brace for 270.   The Ogre U rocks.
