So I helped this guy...........
« on: April 21, 2010, 11:14:50 PM »
.....and now he wants to pay me back with a FREE Visionary ball of my choice.  Which one to get.  This is a tough one.

I really liked my Charcoal Executioner when I had it and was thinking of getting the Gladiator Solid.

I have had a couple Crimsons and was curious about the Gladiator Pearl.

I really like the Blurple but wish I had a different layout in it and thinking of getting a new one.

I really dont have a benchmark type ball so was contemplating a Ogre Solid.

So many good balls right now and can only get one.  What to do.

I haven't bought one yet Steve but will put a new layout when I do from the one I did originally.

I opted for an Ogre Solid.  I really like the ball motion and versatility of the Ogre line.  http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q29/scotts33/VisOgreSolidlabel2.jpg

I started using the Pumpkin at 4000ab but took it to 2000ab and it blends out wet/dry for me very well.  Gladiator Solid did much the same on house shots....they blend it out with these two a lot.

Let us know what you go with.

I am the wrong guy to ask lol

IF you REALLY like you Charcoal the way I LOVE ALL of mine
I would suggest trying the Gladiator solid to see if the two
true compare, especially seeing as it is a free ball.

Same could be said about the Crimson.

I used my Charcoal as my benchmark ball so I might would drill up a gladiator
the same way I Have the charcoal drilled.

As far as, I am concerned since I have had both the Gladiator Solid is the closest ball to the famed Char Ex.

I have a glad pearl and have to tell you this is my fav ball right now.  It's the most consistent ball I have ever rolled and it has seemed to be bulletproof.  Sure it gets knicks and all, but the coverstock seems indestructable.  I am thoroughly pleased with it.  The solid seems to be about the same but with less length.  Either of them would be good choices I'd say.

I have one of those already and like where it fits so I am good there.  I am starting to lean towards the Gladiator Solid though havent made my final decision yet.

I haven't had a chance to try any of the Gladiators. Let us know how the Solid is.

While I can't say what you should get I will say this though....

Awesome guy! Not many people offer to repay you for something you did to help.

I am more interested in how you helped him. Quite a payback.

Two things actually.  First thing is he just got on the Test Staff and asked if I thought what he was getting would work for him.  Then, he called once he got them and asked what layouts to put in each one.  After he got them drilled, he tried them out and said all of them rolled great.  He was averaging 185 in this league and after the first three weeks with the new balls, he averaged 230 with them.  45 pin jump with new equipment and simpler layouts.  Secondly, he owns his own business that required him to be out of town as well as getting some injections in his back, so he had me sub for him for the whole second third of the league until he recovered and the team finished near the top of the standings for that third.  Since I helped in out, he sent me a text and said I could have a ball of my choice.  He is a good friend of mine I have known for about 20 years.

On that note, I have decided to go with the Ogre Solid.  My plan is to take the surface to 2000 and use it as my benchmark ball.  Since he is paying for the ball, I am going to go with something a little cheaper and lighter on his wallet.  I am thinking of the test staff myself at some point in which I can get the Gladiators later down the road.
