Yes it is dull OOB, but I would toss it first. I threw this ball OOB on my THS, and was surprised by its length. Pin under ring 4" from PAP and cg right with small dia. hole low on the val. My 2000 NoMercy read earlier. The higher RG 2.59, and avg track flare (4") gives this ball a clean front even at this surface. This dull surface also keeps it smooth at the breakpoint. This is one of the most predictable balls I have tossed in a long time....that still carries. More hand, it responds accordingly, yet predictably and not jumpy. I can tell on this piece when it comes off my hand that it is going to creep high and probably leave a 4 pin , or if I didn't quite get it at the release, it will probably not quite kick the ten. Not too many of todays performance balls are this way. I have dropped others some just to have them check up early at the mid lane (due to lack of revs/spin) and then actually roll high through the head pin. Or really have a clean release and hit your spots, and get penalized by a big jump at the break and go through the nose, on what you felt was a quality shot. This ball seems to respond to what you do or not do to the ball. This is a great piece to play up the oil line with. Do not be afraid to change this cover with a different grit and then move back....very workable. ( I just do not like polishes that add slip agents or wax to the pores, which are tougher to remove). I have mine at 500 abralon and love it. So try it first, you may be pleasantly surprised. Al
