Ogre Particle & SS 1-2 punch
« on: January 15, 2009, 07:02:15 AM »
I have the Ogre Particle and SS both at 2000.  I start with the Ogre Particle and when it start to check up half way through my second league game I pull out my SS and I'm able to keep the look on the lane.  Would adding the solid or peal just be equipment over lap?

If you are content with what you've got.....sounds like you've got the answer you need.

However, if you want something for in between for when the lanes maybe adjust slower or you are having issues with either, there is always a possibility that an Ogre Pearl would be a welcome addition.

For me and the lanes we play on, I would probably go with the Pearl more than the solid.  Excellent ball as well!!

Another vote for the Ogre Pearl. One of the smoothest pearls I've ever thrown. I had the Solid as well, and while it was a good ball, I'd take the Pearl over it any day. Get the Pearl and when the Urethane is released get that one as well! How could you go wrong with THAT lineup!!!

The Ogre SS at 2000 Abralon matte finsih (if that is what the author means by "2000", as he is very unclear about this) is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY earlier than the Ogre pearl.

If both the Ogre Particle and the Ogre SS are at this 2000 grit Abralon matte finish (no polish), then he has a decent goto set-up.

(I suggest everyone be more clear in what their balls have been changed to, so we all know what we're talking about.)

Thanks for feedback!  I have both Ogre Particle and SS at 2000 grit Abralon matte finish (no polish).  Both are drilled: Pin under ring finger with the CG kick out exactly 1 inch from the mid line with the necessary weight hole. Very heavy roll with controlled hook and backend.  I may wait on the Orge Pearl since it and SS come 1500 polish.

Agreed Charlest.  I didn't think about it being matte though.  Was thinking that the the Ogre was 2000 matte and the SS 2000 polish in which case the Ogre Pearl should still fit nicely in between.

Not sure how a 2000 Abralon matte finished Ogre Particle would roll, but I would think it's still going to grab much earlier than a 1500 polish Ogre Pearl.

Me personally.....I would leave the Ogre Particle where it is if it handles oil still, get the Pearl and leave it where it's at, and then put the Ogre SS back to OOB finish.

With my Ogre SS @ at 2000 grit Abralon matte finish (no polish), I have found out that I can use it on my fresh league shot for all three games.  Even the second and third carry down is no problem for this versatile piece of equipment.  My
Ogre Particle really is a heavier long flat oil pattern ball.
