I am bringing back an older thread, but I finally have tried the Ogre solid enough to give some better feedback.
I have tried the Ogre solid at 600, 1000, and 4000 w/ no polish. The ball is drilled 4x4 with the pin in the ring finger. For me at:
600 - the ball rolls early, bleeds alot of energy in the mid-lane. I would honestly only recommend this grit for someone who doesn't have much hand, or if you really want to use the ball on heavy oil.
1000 - ball gets thru the heads and mid lane with more energy, and produces more of a skid then strong arch back end type reaction. This surface produces an almost identical reaction to the Ogre Pearl, but is about 4-5 boards stronger.
4000 - ball sails thru the heads and gets more length, but maintains the strong arch type back end. Imho this grit gives about the same overall hook potential as the pearl Ogre, with a slightly more controllable break point.
I am really impressed with the Ogre solid so far.
