After a long time of searching for a new ball I decided to give the Ogre Pearl a chance. My criteria were especially a probably long lasting coverstock, good bang for the buck^^ and a med/low differential. The ball I used before was a Storm Shift which was a really great ball (shot my first 300 with it
) but after many many many games (more than 1500 I guess) the ball is pretty much dead and is only useable on really short and dry patterns resulting in a smooth, arcing motion. (which is not bad on those patterns^^)
Yesterday I tried the Ogre Pearl the first time. And it's really a great ball. Nice roll, strong hook and great carry (which I expect from a ball oob of course). The pattern was really dry and I haven't thrown it on longer patterns though. Nonetheless I am pretty excited about this ball and love to throw it. The cover is pretty thick and I hope this will result in a long long life
Maybe one question...What cleaner should I use? Atm I have the Lanemasters "High Performance Cleaner" which is, I guess, pretty agressive and Brunswicks "Remove All" ball cleaner. Would you recommend one of those or should I go for another one?
At the end of my topic I just want to say thank you to dizzyfugu for taking the time and answering my questions
Thanks a lot.
And of course Visionary for this very nice rolling piece of equipment. I am really looking forward to getting more information about the new breed *hehe*

Great ball cleaner. I'd use it after bowling and you'll have a long lived Ogre Pearl. Visionary equipment is noted for it's ability to stand up to the test of time.
Only other cleaner I'd try is Valentino's Remedy also a great cleaner....can be used during USBC competition and after. Less strong odor. Use up your Legends cleaner and then try Valentino's Remedy.

@Dizziyfuggu: Yes, thanks for your help because here in my area there is absolutely no one I know who owns a visionary ball and in general I would say that visionary is not pretty much known in Germany.
@scotts33:
I read one topic here on ballreviews about the Cleaner and the comparison to other cleaners. Many guys stated that they really like the Remedy-Cleaner and of course I would like to test it but I haven't found a german online shop where I could buy it and I really don't know if it's possible to buy it except from valention's online shop itself. I also haven't seen it in our local pro shops.

Bowling resources are pretty limited... I get Ebonite, LM and Brunswick cleaners, but as a local tip: check out BAUHAUS and the MELLERUD cleaner line. There are some special cleaners for plastic, and a special degreasing cleaner that does a very good job on bowling balls:
http://www.mellerud.de/html/products.php4?do=show_product_popup&id=90&language=DE
http://www.mellerud.de/html/products.php4?do=show_product_popup&id=91&language=DE
http://www.mellerud.de/html/products.php4?do=show_product_popup&id=45&language=DE
Not cheap, but very effective, and esp. the degreaser is great on bowling balls (does not take away the polish, as far as I can tell).

the ogre pearl doesnt soak much oil at all but any ball will soak oil and get dirt in its pores so a good cleaner like remedy or LM would be fine.

I use RowDel's Grime Solver. It's a powerful cleaner approved by USBC, doesn't leave a residue, and smells pretty good.
Check out the site as we will be coming out with a cleaning kit for the holidays and a stocking stuffer as well.
Cheers,
