OGRE Pearl and SS
« on: October 02, 2007, 01:56:32 AM »
For those who have both.

If drilled the same, how much difference in total boards and length are they.

I have a SS that I like a lot and have a Blurple on the way.

Just want to get the best 1-2 punch I can.

Thanks

Have both.  Pearl is drilled 4 1/2" pin to PAP pin above ring CG in palm.  Nice length strong arc.  SS pin to PAP 5" pin over bridge CG in palm.  no weight holes in either.  OOB surface.

SS is about 2 to 3 feet longer more snap off the spot.  Both compliment each other well.  I can use Pearl Ogre 1st ball or use a solid like an IS or Solid Ogre 1st and migrate to SS as 2nd ball moving in.  Pearl is more readable but SS for me is not as much over reaction as the Greenie was.  Pearl would be a better ball to use on a tougher pattern.

Bowled sport condition medium pattern with medium length and used the Pearl and a Blue/Green Centaur last weekend.  Did very well with this 2 ball line up.  I like them both for tougher conditions.....compliment each other well.

Thanks S33 for the feedback.

I find that my SS is stronger than my Greenie in overall hook and backend.

The video's posted have been great, I really need to spend some more time looking at them. I may put the pin over the bridge on the Pearl to compliment the SS.

I have both 2 pearls and the SS:
O.P.#1-drilled 1:30 pin next to ring cg in palm, very good midlane read and continous arcing back end solid med condition ball 1st out of the bag.
O.P.#2-drilled just like scotts33 SS longer by 3' smoother off the break need to move out 5and5 with this ball great compliment to O.P.#1.
O.SS-drilled 4x60* pin over ring small w.h. on val at center line. sails through heads, late midlane then just explodes at the sniff of dry boards with loads of enegry. not the best ball for carry down as it can be squirty with the jump, but when the lanes open up let it rip and hang on.

Over all these are the best balls I have bowled with in 10 years and are easily adjustable do not be afraid to tune your covers.
