My FMG is drilled pin under ring, CG stacked, and since I wanted it for medium conditions I took it to 1.500 grit even before drilling. Nice, smooth breakpoint, but still needed good head oil to work - a very good choice for medium to medium-oily shots.
In the meantime, out of curiosity, I took it to 2.000 Abralon, and it made quite a recation difference. The ball still needs good head oil for me, but the breakpoint has become recognizably more angular, and in fact I like this reaction even more than the slightly duller 1.500 grit wet sanded finish.
Great for long but thin oil, and soupier medium shots in general. Will also handle oilier shots, as long as the back end is clean or you just go down-and-in.
I am astonished how well the Reac-A-Tack coverstock responds to changes, and I guess I might hit my FMG with some polish in the future, just to see what happens and if it retains its very good traction ability?
