Ogre Urethane WOW!

what a bummer... thought I would love this ball for the dry'ish bowling I've been forced to do but it was not so great for me. the ball cleared the heads fine BUT hooked a ton and it was all ten pin city. I was setting it down as far as 4th arrow it hooked so much.I hate being locked out on this condition while everyone else think they're TJ or something and loving it.I think I give up on the urethane idea. and to add insult to injury I couldn't cover and tens with this thing.

How's it drilled? Mine replace a blue dot for spare duty. There was a small "adjustment period" but nothing drastic. As a main ball my works from outside angles but I haven't seen enough dry to swing it.

I'm also curious how it's drilled and what you have the cover at.  My urethane (Blue Hammer and a Natural) leaves a lot of single pins when there's too much oil in the heads.  But once the lanes open up look out!

4th Arrow??? Which Ogre Urethane are you talking about????

I think you need to find a ball that can do a controlled burn in the midlane or find a way to reduce your rev rate.
Tonight I had to use a BG Centaur to control the backend because the milder ball (a polished solid, but with more flare), had far too much backend in a house where I had not subbed in 10 years. Still left a load of 10 pins.

I don't know,maybe a cover change but then it will probably have problems in the heads and mid lane.the O.U. I have is OOB finish and drilled 4x4 pin up. it hooks a bunch but hits like plastic on carrydown. as for the shot on the lanes try to think bowling in a parking lot.

Scott took his down to P4000 grit Abralon to get it to read the mids better. and he seemed satisfied with it. Try P4000 grit or even P2000 grit, especially having to use the 4th arrow with such a ball. (FYI SiaAir pads also come in P3000 grit, if you feel like trying that level.)

Hitting like plastic on carrydown - not really unexpected. We've all gotten to used to the explosive power of resin balls.

Yep P4000 abralon is the best surface I've had on it.  Note my posts in this thread about carry down and spotty reactions.  I never used this ball inside always on a down and in lane trajectory.  I also tended to use a release staying under it completely with a lot of forward roll and no side roll.

The other reason I like the Ogre Urethane is that this is the ball I use for spares now.  No reason to carry plastic.

no way will I be using this ball for ten pins on dry,hooks to much, hope a little surface should help for carry. one bright spot was it was easy to control.

I'll assume you can't change your release to get the ball into a forward roll or stay under it to get that thump-thump WRW's roll.  This is what I do for 10 pins or for that matter most single pin spares.  

What works for one may not work for another.
