Title: Ogre Pearl or something else
Post by: TheYoungGrasshopper on May 19, 2012, 09:27:49 AM
Hi, I am a new member. I wanted to know what would be a good ball. I am currently looking at the Ogre Pearl. I have 12-13 mph and around 500 or so revs. I am a young two hander. I bowl on dry to medium dry lanes. I also have some carrydown every once in a while so what would be best for me? I currently have a Tropical Breeze Kona Blue/Silver Pearl.

If you could wait a few more days the track 300A would be a good option

Before I try to just randomly throw out some random answer, let me ask you this:

What do you want out of a ball that you are not getting from your current ball?

Knowing what you are looking for from a ball will help us to more thoughtfully answer your question.

Listen to Juggernaut.

The Ogre Pearl is a true medium oil pearl. It is way stronger than a Tropical Breeze. Your ball speed is way too low for that rev rate. Kind of surprised you can even use any resin ball.

500 rpm and 12 - 13mph AND u bowl on dry lanes... That screams plastic to me.

Not that I would discourage you from buying a Visionary ball, but with those stats (if they are accurate) and dry lanes id look at a Hammer plastic ball to be honest.

It would be hard for anyone to make suggestions without seeing you bowl. What I would suggest you do is ask around & find a reputable pro shop in your area. Have them watch you bowl, and then listen to their suggestions. Then you will be able to make an informed decision on your purchase. If you post what city/state you reside in, I'm sure the members here would offer suggestions for pro shops in your area.Good luck!
