Ogre Pearl surface adjustments.
« on: March 15, 2008, 01:00:28 AM »
Ive just bought an Ogre Pearl and its awesome. I like the control I get although I thought "control" balls didnt hook like this. It does seem a little skiddy on carrydown though.

I was expecting a more loping reaction from it but boy does it go and keep going as soon as it hits dry, the continuation of its hook is something Ive not seen from many balls. I was very suprised to say the least.

I was thinking about what scotts33 said about 4000 abraloning his. Anyone else try hitting it with 4000 and how did you find the change. Better? Worse? or just more controlled ? Loose something in the backend ?

I have a Black Widow Pearl at 4000 and love the reaction but I dont really want 2 balls that do the same thing thats why Im asking.
Thanks.

I have both the bwp and orge pearl, the bwp is oob and is the ultimate skid/flip ball, the orge I found touchy and jumpy oob so I "lightly" touched it with green scotchbrite to break the gloss a little bit.
now when the bwp starts to go through the break I grab the ogre and it midlanes sooner and stronger than the bwp.
the preal ogre has alot of midlane for a pearl, the bwp seems to glide through the midlane and pickup later and stronger.

star,

I'd try 4000 abralon and see if it helps you.  You can always take it to another surface if you don't like it.

trims right, sanded pearl balls are an option few people try, everybody thinks pearl balls must be polished.
pearl covers at say 1000 abralon produce a smooth reaction with alot of backend recovery, everyone should have one.

I think I will try the 4000 like most of you say I can always give it a little more or put it back if its no better.

It is a wonderful piece of kit though. Im very impressed with my first Visionary piece.

Thanks to everyone who has given me info on it and all who have helped me in my choice.
