Old Blue/Green Centaur
« on: December 26, 2006, 02:08:04 PM »
Shot 703 nuttin' special w/ my old Blue/Green.  Just wanted to post this as it's not a big deal but shows those that think they need heavy hook monsters that are produced today......Visionary included that the old tried and true down the track adjustments with hand and speed can still shoot decent scores.

I'm ordering more non hooking stuff and leave the heavy hookers just for tourneys.  The straighter I play the better.  This also was not on a wet/dry THS.  A wet 42' newer HPL w/ slight hang.

Hopefully Vis's Ogre line won't be any stronger than their Violet G and B/G Centaur.

No Mercy, BW, Angular, etc.  don't need 'em.  I don't need to cover every board in the house.

well put scott.  no need for a ton of hook as long as you can can a good angle to the pocket.  The more moards you cover, the greater the chance for mistakes.  im sure the ogre will be like other V balls in that it will take well to polishing and surface adjustments.

Scott,

Good shooting buddy!  And I know what you mean about that centaur.  I've got the high series for the year right now using mine.

Shot a 793 ( left a 10 pin on the second ball of the 10th frame in game 3 ) with mine.  These visionary balls always give me good carry.

( maybe I should get some more of them )

Nice bowling, Scot, but then the Centaur makes it all too easy.

About the Ogre, I think it's going to be a medium to medium-heavy oil ball unless you polish it.

This is my "go to" ball when I have no shot with anything else. Shot 846 including a 300 earlier in the year (with an open I might add) playing down and in all day.
