Brian, I am new to Visionary as well, but have not been disappointed. I recently drilled the Ogre and the Bronze Centaur and due to my liking those, I am also signing up for the platinum membership.
Now, as far as the characteristics, I think that each Visionary ball will have its own characteristics. While most of their stuff is an arc type controlled reaction, some of their balls are very aggressive too. They also have balls that are skid/snap. One thing I've heard repeatedly about Visionary stuff is that their equipment is exactly as advertised. If they say a ball will be skid/snap, it's going to be skid/snap. I say this because other companies advertise a ball as one thing and you get something else.
Next, as for the balls being "user friendly." Again, it all depends on what ball(s) you're looking at. They have stuff that is very aggressive and will aid those with less hand and they also have stuff that is not as aggressive that will benefit those with more hand.
Lastly, the covers. Again, based on what I've read, the covers are extremely durable. I have a friend who has had a Frankie May and Immortal Pearl for some time now and the covers don't look tracked up at all. Both balls look as though they are new. Also, the covers take to cover changes very well. I have altered my Ogre and have read of many peoople altering their covers with great success. Don't be afraid to dull or polish up the covers on these.
Hope this helps.
Ryan
