ogre solid or amb particle
« on: January 31, 2008, 01:37:06 AM »
looking for a heavy oil ball to go with my ogre pearl, ball is sweet.
is the ogre solid the next logical step up from the pearl or should I look towards the amb particle.
amb seems like it might be too extreme, only coming out of the bag on rare occasions.
pap 5 7/8 over 1/4 up
rev rate 300
average speed
tweener type game

thanks in advance for the help.

I'd be looking at the Ogre Solid. The AMB Particle will be WAY TOO MUCH ball. Another option might be the AMB solid, but I think the Ogre Solid is the best bet.

Don't forget that the AMB Particle is 320-grit OOB.  While that is probably too much for almost everyone, take it to 800-grit or 1000-grit and you'll have a stupid-smooth, strong oil ball that will virtually ignore carrydown.

Well, IMO, if you were considering the Ogre Solid, why not try the Frankie May Gryphon or Immortal Solid?  I have the Frankie May, and although it won't handle a flood, it'll do the job on most heavier patterns.  The 400 grit cover is strong oob.  I haven't tried the IS but it's probably the next step if you don't go with the AMB Particle

the immortal solid has an amazing coverstock and with right surface prep and layout great for heavy oil or medium.  I actually found my condition specific because of the 1000 matte finish so i brought it up to 2000 arbalon and a light coat of black magic and holy crap it actually doesn't roll out.  I finally got the look i wanted when i drilled it but after surface prep.  Like all visionary balls easy to adjust cover
