OU or B/G
« on: November 29, 2009, 06:27:51 AM »
Would these two bowling balls overlap ? If you had fried lanes could you get away with the B/G or would the OU be the ball of choice ? Just curious how people who have both feel. Carlos

OU for super dry with no carry down in OOB finish also can be used as spare ball.

B/G for light dry to medium with higher grit surface say P4000.  Depending on how far you are willing to move in or your style/lane play and layout.  Everything is relative IMO all depends on bowler and lane conditions.  One players dry is another's dry-medium.

On fried lanes, the BG Centaur is not the ball to use. I currently have mine at P4000 grit + polish and I still need a P4000 polished Hot Rod Pearl for dry lanes. The BGC can handle anywhere from light to medium oil depending on your hand, the drilling and the surface. I used to use it between the 4th and 5th arrow at Nationals at 2000 grit Abralon.

If anything, I would put the OU and the Slate Blue more as a comparison, though even the Slate Blue will roll!!  It too is not to confused with a spare ball.

You can still miss 7 or 10 pins with an OU so not as to infer that it will roll dead straight as a poly ball will.  Please don't confuse what I said about using an OU as a spare ball.  But, it can be used as one freeing up a space in your bag.  Some ability with technique will allow the OU to be used as a spare ball.
